Horni Lidec: Culture, Nature and Educational Trails
Accommodation in Horni Lidec
For your trip to Horni Lidec, cultural and nature-related attractions sit side by side: the mechanical Betlém, the Trezor přírody exhibition and two educational trails with different focuses. You can then weigh up whether exhibitions, landscape conservation or paths through hilly terrain are especially important for your stay. If you want to explore several topics, you can consider exhibition visits and trail options side by side in your personal travel plans.
Betlém: Figures and Carved Buildings
The Betlém Horní Lideč operates year-round and can be visited throughout the year. Opening arrangements may change, so check the latest visitor information before you travel. The mechanical Betlém includes 230 figures, 75 of them moving, as well as more than 100 carved buildings. The scenes include notable places in the Zlínský kraj region.
The exhibition therefore combines two striking features: moving figures and carved architecture. Details of the figures and buildings may change through later updates. When planning your visit, you can take a closer look at the mechanical structure and at the buildings that depict places in the region.
Trezor přírody and Landscape Conservation
Trezor přírody Horní Lideč offers a different focus. The modern multimedia exhibition uses large-screen projection and interactive elements. It presents natural treasures from the four protected landscape areas of Bílé Karpaty, Biele Karpaty, Beskydy and slovenské Kysuce. It also explains, in an entertaining way, why the landscape is protected.
Unlike the Betlém, the focus here is not on figures and buildings, but on natural areas and landscape conservation. If you visit both exhibitions, you will encounter different themes: depictions of notable places in the Zlínský kraj region and the reasons why landscapes are protected.
Two Educational Trails, Different Routes
The Vařákovy paseky educational trail starts at the railway station in Horní Lideč. It follows yellow- and blue-marked paths via Lačnov and back to Lidečko. The route is 15 kilometres long and passes through hilly terrain with some local climbs. Markings and trail conditions may change, so check them before setting out.
The Pulčínská cesta also starts at Horní Lideč railway station. It runs via the Pulčín trail junction to the information centre in Pulčín. Along the way, the landscape is shaped by hilly terrain, pastures and beautiful views; the educational trail focuses primarily on the Valašsko landscape.
To choose between the two trails, you can compare the different information provided: for Vařákovy paseky, the 15-kilometre length and local climbs are specified. The Pulčínská cesta is characterised by its route via the junction to the information centre, as well as by its pastures, views and landscape focus. This gives you two different points of reference: a specific route length and a vivid description of the route and landscape.
