Dolni Becva: Hiking, Winter Sports and Regional Culture
Accommodation in Dolni Becva
Dolni Becva lies in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids below Radhošť and is a starting point for hiking trails to the mountain. The northern boundary of the cadastral area runs along the ridge of the Radhošť Beskids and also forms the district boundary. For planning your trip, two different reference points are important: the village below the mountain and the ridge as the northern boundary. Here, hiking can be combined with other activities and local culture.
Hiking and sights at Radhošť
At Radhošť, sights visited by tourists include a statue of the pagan god Radegast and a chapel dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius. Pustevny is known for its picturesque wooden buildings designed by architect Dušan Jurkovič. This lets you combine an interest in hiking trails with a look at the architecture and cultural attractions on the mountain.
Golf, tennis and other activities
The Valašský golfový klub operates a public nine-hole golf course that is also open to golfers without a golf licence. There are also two tennis courts on the grounds. The municipality therefore offers options for a range of sporting interests. There is also a beach sports centre in the sports complex by the Bečva.
For winter activities, the Pod Kaplí ski slope is a useful reference point. It lies on the northwest side of Radhošť in the Průsek area and is 447 metres long. The ski lift has a capacity of 450 people per hour, but its operation depends on snow conditions. Check current operating information before visiting. In winter, there are also groomed cross-country ski trails from the Mír chalet via Pustevny to Martinák. Downhill and cross-country skiing are two different ways to include winter activities in your travel plans.
Cycling is another option: cycle route No. 6260 Bečva runs through the Rožnov Valley and Dolni Becva. If you want to divide your days between hikes, bike rides and winter activities, you can plan for these different ways of getting around separately.
Local architecture and history
A brick chapel with a bell, built in 1848, stands in the Horní Rozpité valley. The parish Church of St Anthony of Padua in Dolni Becva was built and consecrated in 1907. A wooden bell tower is also among the village’s architecturally interesting buildings. There are also buildings featuring traditional folk architecture. These attractions complement outdoor activities with insights into the village’s architectural history.
Regional specialities and events
VKP operates an outlet in Dolni Becva selling sausages, traditional slaughter specialities and fresh pork, beef and chicken directly from the producer. Check the opening arrangements before your trip. At marked VALAŠSKÉ DOBROTY stalls, you can sample regional Wallachian specialities such as sheep’s cheese, Korbáčiky and Frgál; the products available may vary.
A neighbourhood sauerkraut tasting event featuring homemade sauerkraut is held repeatedly in Dolni Becva. The fourth edition took place on 24 January 2026; another edition was announced for January 2027. If you want to plan around this event, check the date of the announced edition before travelling.
Plan your trip and hotel choice
