Tichov lies in a valley along the Tichovský potok stream, on the southern edge of the Vizovické vrchy. If you are looking for hotels in Tichov, you can choose what to focus on based on what you want to shape your stay: the landscape, local history, outdoor activities or nearby attractions. This can help you choose a destination based on whether you are especially interested in the history of the village, outdoor activities or excursions.

Location and activities in Tichov

Tichov is situated at an elevation of 430 to 495 metres above sea level. The valley, stream and location on the southern edge of the Vizovické vrchy give the village a distinct landscape. Activities listed in Tichov include hiking, cycling and winter tourism. These different activity options complement the local history and offer another way to think about Tichov as a destination.

The recently renovated sports complex is located on the outskirts of the village. It includes a football pitch, a children's playground and an outdoor swimming pool. So, alongside the activities mentioned in general, there is also a specific complex with three different facilities. When planning, you can distinguish this option from hiking and cycling opportunities or winter tourism, rather than treating all activities as the same offering.

The chapel and earlier local history

Construction of the Chapel of Christ the King began in 1947. It was consecrated in 1948 during the local festival. The chapel is under the spiritual administration of the Valašské Klobouky parish, where Mass is held regularly twice a week. The dates tell a connected story of the village's more recent history: construction began and the chapel was consecrated the following year.

Historically, Tichov was an agricultural settlement with the character of a Pasekář settlement. Five shepherds' huts are recorded for the 17th and 18th centuries. Archaeology adds an earlier historical layer: an extensive cremation burial ground of the Lusatian culture, dating to the Late and Final Bronze Age, was excavated in the Stráže field. The historical record thus ranges from prehistoric archaeology and rural settlement history to the 20th-century chapel.

Two different attractions nearby

Klášťov is located near Tichov. Its peak is the highest point of the ridge of the Vizovické vrchy, in the eastern part of the ridge. The site is home to the Čertův kámen rock and the remains of an extensive Celtic hillfort. The combination of a distinctive rock formation and hillfort remains makes Klášťov a destination with both scenic and historical interest.

Ploština is also nearby, around five kilometres from Tichov. It has a recently renovated memorial and a museum. The two destinations offer different points of interest: Klášťov centres on its summit, rocks and hillfort remains, while Ploština is known for its memorial and museum. This comparison can help you choose excursions based on what you are interested in, without treating the different themes as the same.

Fruit distillery and Slivovice

A fruit distillery was established in 1995 in the lower part of the village, in Rovni. It includes a room for drying fruit and a cauldron for cooking povidl (plum butter). The distillery can be visited, but a visit must be arranged in advance. A tour offers a look at fruit processing; the annual tasting in Tichov focuses on Slivovice from the Tichov distillery. People from the wider area attend the tasting. Together, these topics offer insight into different aspects of the local distillery: its processing facilities and the product made there.
