Šarovy brings together religious memorial sites, archaeological traces and a path through the fields. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Šarovy, these themes can help you get a sense of the destination: the chapel and the stone cross are individual historic sites, Hrad Šarov is an archaeological site, and the Stations of the Cross form a sequence of stops. There is also a traditional annual festival. These distinctions give you a concrete basis for deciding which focus suits the purpose of your trip.

The Chapel and the Stone Cross

The chapel in Šarovy was dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes in May 1947. Its small tower contains the original bell from the former wooden bell tower. The chapel can therefore be understood through two specific details: its dedication and the bell with its history. The historic stone cross was erected in 1759 by Matěj Hruboš in memory of his deceased daughter. Unlike the chapel, it commemorates a personal loss. The years 1759 and 1947 mark different moments in Šarovy’s religious history; the chapel and the cross also represent different forms of remembrance.

Putting Hrad Šarov in Context

Hrad Šarov is classified as a significant archaeological site. Its surviving remains include a site surrounded by a rampart and ditch, as well as a former outer bailey. An outer bailey is the outer area of a castle complex; the term helps distinguish it from the rampart-enclosed site, which is also among the remains. Šarovy church serves as a point of reference for orientation: Hrad Šarov lies about 1 km south of it, on the left bank of the Březnice. This sets the archaeological site apart from the individual religious memorials in the village.

The Stations of the Cross and the Landscape

The Stations of the Cross date from 2008 and comprise fourteen numbered stations. Unlike the chapel and the stone cross, each of which is a single memorial, they form a structured sequence. The route climbs along a sunken lane from Šarovy into the fields. Alongside architectural and monument history, this adds a landscape perspective: the Stations of the Cross are defined by their stops and uphill route. If you are interested in paths and religious sites, this focus brings both aspects together without treating the Stations of the Cross as equivalent to the individual monuments.

A Tradition on a Set Date

The Šarovská chasa organizes traditional Slovácké hody s právem on the first Saturday in November. Unlike the cultural sites, which can be visited year-round, this festival tradition takes place on a specific date. If you are planning your trip around the festival, check the date and the availability of your chosen hotel before making plans.
