Provodov lies in the Luhačovické Zálesí region and the Vizovice Highlands. Its hilly landscape of small forests, pastures and fields provides the setting for a place whose cultural history can be traced through its pilgrimage church, castle ruins and individual architectural and artistic monuments. When planning your trip, you can distinguish between two main areas of interest: Malenisko, with its pilgrimage church and steep Stations of the Cross, and historic sites with different traces that have survived.

Malenisko and the Pilgrimage Church

The pilgrimage site of Malenisko lies on the slope of the Brda ridge in the Vizovice Highlands, about one kilometre southeast of Provodov. The Church of Our Lady of the Snows near Provodov has been an important pilgrimage site in the region since the 18th century. It is a listed cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The church is open for guided tours from May to September: Saturdays from 10 am to noon and from 1 pm to 4 pm, and Sundays from noon to 2 pm and from 3:30 pm to 5 pm. A guide is available during opening hours. As seasonal opening hours may change, check the times before your visit.

Next to the church at Malenisko stands a chapel built in 1865. The spring lies beneath the church altar, and visitors can drink its local spring water. A steep Stations of the Cross leads from the chapel to the top of the ridge.

Castle Ruins and Their Traces

The ruins of Rýsov are the remains of a 13th-century castle on a promontory south of Provodov. Surviving features include a neck ditch, an embankment and an acropolis with rocky cliffs; traces of timber structures anchored to the rocks can also be seen. The only written reference dates from 1517, when the castle was already described as abandoned.

Starý Světlov is a medieval castle ruin dating from the 14th century. Its core, the remains of masonry structures, the outer bailey, extensive earthworks and an outlying bastion have survived. The site is in neighbouring Podhradí, but is historically regarded as a monument of Provodov. From the Church of Our Lady of the Snows, Starý Světlov can be reached on foot via a green-marked hiking trail and a forest path; the route is not suitable for pushchairs. The ruins date from different periods: Rýsov is from the 13th century, while Starý Světlov is from the 14th century.

Architectural and Natural Monuments

A Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1774, stands in the village square in Provodov. It is a listed cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Komora u č.p. 38 is also a listed cultural monument. It is a two-storey masonry chamber with a wooden veranda. This building type was once typical of houses in the Luhačovské Zálesí region. Unlike the castle ruins, the chamber represents a form of construction that was once common in regional housing.

Near Čertův kámen is a natural rock formation with numerous hollows, grooves and cracks, as well as reddish areas. An interpretive panel there provides information about the site and its legend. The panel adds a story-based perspective on the place to the visible features of the rock.
