Pravčice: Local History and Routes
Accommodation in Pravčice
When looking for a hotel for a stay in Pravčice, you can consider which local themes suit your travel plans: local history, landscape, or routes. Pravčice brings together a historic village center, the Rusava River, a pond, and named routes. This lets you get to know the area through specific interests.
Historic Village Center and Cultural Monuments
The historic village center includes a village green lined with granary houses. Houses with exposed-brick façades stand both in the center and along the edges of the green. The term describes façades where the brickwork remains visible on the outside, pointing to a specific feature of the houses. This makes it possible to view the layout of the green and the façade design as distinct aspects of the historic village center.
The Pravčice memorial cross is listed in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments under registration number 23027/7–6104. It is located next to the Rusava River and road III/4322. Here, its status as a cultural monument is tied to a specific location.
Archaeological Traces and Dated Local History
A multicultural prehistoric settlement site was excavated in Pravčice in 2007. It was inhabited from the Early Bronze Age, associated with the Věteřov group, through to the Late Roman period. The year 2007 marks the excavation; the settlement itself spans a long period between these two eras.
An electronic carillon was installed in 1999 in the tower of St. Florian’s Church. Alongside the settlement’s long history, this provides a specific date from the more recent history of the village. On May 25, 2013, the “Muzeum zemědělské techniky našich dědů – Josef Netopil a synové” was also formally opened in Pravčice. The dates refer to different events: the installation of the carillon and the opening of the museum.
Rusava River, Pond, and Remnant of Floodplain Forest
The Rusava River flows through Pravčice. Broďák, also called Hliník, is the only pond in the village. Hájek, a remnant of floodplain forest, adjoins Hliník pond. The two names, Broďák and Hliník, refer to the same pond; Hájek, by contrast, refers to the adjoining remnant of floodplain forest. This distinguishes the river flowing through the village from the landscape features formed by the pond and forest remnant.
Cycle Route and Other Route Connections
The 55-kilometer cycle route No. 5033 runs from Kroměříž via Hulín, Pravčice, Količín, Holešov, Dobrotice, Jankovice, Chomýž, Brusné, Slavkov pod Hostýnem, Bystřice pod Hostýnem, Mrlínek, Libosváry, Všechovice, Kelč, and Němetice to Hustopeče nad Bečvou. Pravčice is therefore on the route between Kroměříž and Hustopeče nad Bečvou, not at either endpoint. The 55 kilometers refers to the entire cycle route. Since route numbers and alignments may be updated, it is a good idea to check the current route before setting out.
Pravčice is also part of the Forman-Hipostezky routes. This second route connection adds a separate topic for travel planning alongside the cycle route; the stated total length and number refer to cycle route No. 5033.
