Museums and Local History
The collection at the Ostrožská Lhota Archaeological Museum includes finds from the Palaeolithic to the modern era. These include replicas of prehistoric vessels, a model of the settlement in 1827, Bronze Age jewellery and pruning knives. The model offers a glimpse of a specific historical moment, while the other collection pieces span several eras. Archaeological excursions for groups and schools are offered under the guidance of archaeologist Mgr. Tomáš Zeman, Ph.D. Arrange these in advance.
The Lidové Museum is located in the Lidový domek Háječek, house no. 143. The historic kitchen and living rooms are furnished with period items. On display are wooden furniture, butter-making equipment, religious pictures and children's toys more than 100 years old. Here, the focus is on rooms and objects from everyday life, while the archaeological museum displays finds from a long period. A 2024 municipal notice lists visiting hours from the end of April to the end of September on Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m.; visits are possible year-round by arrangement. Check the opening hours before your visit.
Church, Chapel and Walking Routes
Local architecture includes the Church of St James the Elder, built in 1908 in the Late Baroque style. A stone statue of St John the Baptist, dating from 1747, also stands at a crossroads in the village centre. Svatý Antonínek is an important Roman Catholic Baroque pilgrimage chapel dating from the 17th century. It stands on Antonínský kopec between Ostrožská Lhota and Blatnice pod Svatým Antonínkem.
A walk can begin at the car park by the municipal office. It passes the Church of St James the Elder and then continues through the fields outside the village. A 5 km walk from Ostrožská Lhota leads to the Svatý Antonínek pilgrimage site. Before setting off, check trail conditions and parking availability, as surfaces and local conditions can change.
