For trip planning, Mistřice offers several specific points of interest: a nature trail through the Prakšická vrchovina, chapels with their own building histories, and crosses with historical associations. The trail and the sacred sites offer different perspectives on the landscape and the municipality’s cultural heritage.

The nature trail and its landscape

The “Po hranici devíti katastrů” nature trail runs from Mistřice to the Hrabiny field above Pašovice and is about nine kilometres long. Its endpoints provide a clear sense of direction.

The route is well signposted and equipped with more than ten educational and information boards, as well as directional signs. The trail is also suitable for cycling. This means that both a hike and a bike ride are options when planning a visit; the route description names the same trail for both activities.

Along the way, the trail passes through the Prakšická vrchovina, an area considered rich in flora and fauna. Rovná hora, the highest point, lies close to the route and extends into the nature reserve of the same name. The trail description thus connects a specific route with a landscape and a nearby protected area.

Chapels and crosses with their own histories

At the start of the nature trail above Mistřice, visitors can see the Bilavčíkův kříž. Historical sources associate the cross with a place where a battle may have taken place between the troops of the Bohemian King Jiřík of Poděbrady and those of the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus. The possible battle remains a historical attribution, not a confirmed account of an event at this location.

The “Chapel of the Holy Trinity” in Mistřice is a historic monument dating from 1874 to 1883. Construction began in 1874, was interrupted by a devastating fire, and was completed in 1883; the chapel was consecrated on 10 November 1884. Inside are paintings by the artist Kubíček and statues of the Virgin Mary, Saint Wenceslas, Saint Florian, Saint Teresa and Saint Anne. The building’s history and the named works give the site a different kind of historical connection from the crosses in the surrounding area described here.

Above Javorovec, beside the old road to Uherské Hradiště, stands a cross dating from 1740. It bears a cryptogram in Old Czech. This gives it two distinct historical associations: the possible battle linked to the Bilavčíkův kříž, and the year 1740 and cryptogram on the cross beside the old road.

A chapel in Javorovec is considered Baroque. The family of František Josef Bulín had a brick chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary built over his brick tomb in Javorovec. The dedication is said to express gratitude for the end of a plague epidemic. Together, these details make the local sacred architecture worth exploring beyond its architectural style: they link a stylistic classification with a specific religious dedication and its traditional significance.

Another route through Mistřice

The Cyrilometodějská stezka also passes through Mistřice and Pašovice. It runs between Maršov and Uherské Hradiště. The two named routes therefore differ in their described extent: the nature trail runs to the Hrabiny field above Pašovice and is about nine kilometres long, while Maršov and Uherské Hradiště are named as the endpoints of the Cyrilometodějská stezka.
