When choosing a stay in Horní Němčí, its landscape, architectural history and local traditions offer a range of points to consider. Key themes include protected meadows and forests, the Church of St. Peter and Paul, and the Myslivna in the center. The cycling route, marked trail and sports facilities offer other points of interest.

Meadows and Forest in the Cadastral Area

Several protected areas preserve different types of landscape in the cadastral area of Horní Němčí. The “Drahy” Nature Reserve covers 15.0797 hectares of highly varied pastures and meadows. The “Bahulské Jámy” Natural Monument is known for the flower-rich meadows of the White Carpathians; it covers 14.0908 hectares. Both areas are characterized by meadows, but the description of “Drahy” also highlights its varied pastureland.

“Uvezené” adds a forest area: this Natural Monument protects 14.39 hectares of oak-hornbeam forest. The “Za lesem” Natural Monument encompasses part of the Lesná pastures, including a wetland depression. The named landscapes thus range from open meadows and pastures to a specific type of forest and a depression in pastureland. Visitors who are especially interested in nature will find specific distinctions here rather than a single, general description of the landscape.

Architectural History and Local Traditions

The Church of St. Peter and Paul is a cultural monument and a prominent feature of the center of Horní Němčí. The Myslivna, also called “hájenka,” is another notable building in the center. Its construction history can be divided into two phases: the present building was newly built as a single-storey house in 1854, then remodeled into its current form between 1921 and 1925. These dates give the Myslivna a specific place in the town’s history without collapsing the two construction phases into one.

West of Horní Němčí lies the hill “Hřádek,” which is about 3 meters high and 17 meters wide. A festive tradition is also part of the local calendar: “hody” is celebrated in the last week of June. The “Horněmčanský kroj” is part of the “kroj nivnický” tradition and is distinguished by its particular variety. In spring, the opening of a well-known spring is also an established tradition. Together, these themes give an impression of how local history and recurring customs can shape the character of a stay.

Cycling Route, Marked Trail and Sports

Cycling route No. 5052 runs through Hradčovice, Dolní Němčí, Slavkov and Horní Němčí to Velká Javořina, and forms part of the regional cycling network. For those traveling on foot, the route from the town center to Velká Javořina is marked with hiking signs. Both descriptions identify a connection to Velká Javořina, but describe different aspects: the cycling route’s sequence of stops and its place in the cycling network, and the other route’s markings from the town center.

The sports facilities include several clearly defined options. The multipurpose sports field in the TJ Sokol Horní Němčí complex has an artificial surface suitable for traditional sports. The sports complex in Horní Němčí also includes a children’s playground, a 16-hole mini-golf course and six outdoor fitness stations. In addition to its landscape and cultural attractions, the area therefore offers specific sports facilities that may be of interest when choosing a travel destination.

You can decide which of these aspects matters most based on your own travel interests: protected landscapes, local history, recurring traditions, or cycling and sports.
