Haluzice: Hiking, Cycling and Village History
Accommodation in Haluzice
Haluzice combines a wooded landscape with marked trails and features of the village’s history. There are separate route options for walking and cycling, along with distinctive buildings and historic features of the village.
The landscape around Haluzice
More than half of Haluzice’s cadastral area is forested. The village lies in the foothills of the Vizovické vrchy and on the northern edge of the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. These details place Haluzice within its landscape setting. A small pond was also created on the northern edge of the village. The forest cover, location by the protected landscape area and the pond are distinct, specific features of the surroundings.
Hiking and cycling
The marked Luhačovice–Haluzice–Vlachovice–Valašské Klobouky hiking route passes through the Luhačovské Zálesí microregion. It is 26 kilometres long in total. This length applies to the entire route. A green-marked hiking trail also starts on the western edge of Haluzice. For planning a walk, this means there is both a route with a stated total length and a marked trail that begins in the village.
There are also two specific cycling route options. A marked section of the Beskydsko-karpatská magistrála long-distance cycling route runs along the western edge of Haluzice. After passing through Lipová, the “Na kole přes Slavičín a Loučku” cycling tour leads to a crossroads near Haluzice. It recommends a detour to Haluzice for its magnificent views of the surrounding area. One detail concerns a marked section of the long-distance route; the other describes the course of a regional tour and its recommendation to take a detour.
If you want to include hiking and cycling in your travel plans, you can consider this information separately: the hiking route has a stated total length, while the cycling routes are described by their markings or their stated course. The routes therefore offer different points of reference, but do not form a single combined route.
Building and village history
Haluzice is home to a hexagonal timber bell tower. This wooden structure is a small monument to folk architecture. The bell tower has served local residents for 150 years. Its shape, construction and local use make it a distinctive feature of local architecture and folk culture.
A cross dating from 1900 stands in Haluzice’s village square. Former farmhouses are arranged in a horseshoe shape, as was once common in historic village squares. Together, these features point to different aspects of the village’s history: folk architecture, a dated cross and a historic village layout.
The main themes planned for the Vlachovsko Museum are the folk culture, traditions and customs of southern Valašsko. A particular focus is to be placed on Vlachovice, Vrbětice, Křekov, Vlachova Lhota and Haluzice. Haluzice is thus included in a regional cultural theme that considers several places and their traditions.
