Březolupy combines castle history with hiking trails, a cycling route and the Hluboček pond. Route details make it possible to compare distances and elevation differences, while history, nature and sport add further highlights.

Castle history and buildings

Březolupy Castle was converted from a fortress between 1650 and 1668. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a sight worth seeing, stands in the village square. Another landmark is the stone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1727. These three features offer different points of interest: the history of a castle converted from a fortress, the church in the village square and a monument with a specific date. This allows you to make cultural attractions a focus of your stay, whether or not you also plan a hike or time by the water.

Hluboček and the landscape

The Hluboček pond offers opportunities for swimming and relaxing on the shore. It is also officially part of a fishing area managed by the Moravian Anglers’ Association. Swimming conditions and fishing regulations can change, so check local conditions before your visit. An educational trail at the pond includes two wooden walkways and a water pavilion with an access walkway. From there, you can observe and explore the fauna and flora over, on and beneath the water’s surface, further from the shore. This draws attention not only to the shoreline but also to the different areas of the water.

The Chrástka quarry lies directly beside the Hluboček pond and is designated as an important landscape feature with remarkable flora and fauna. Alongside opportunities to relax at the pond, the area’s natural features are also a focus. Swimming, observing nature and taking in the landscape are different reasons to explore Hluboček; check local swimming conditions before you go.

Circular routes on foot and by bike

The blue “Okolo Březolup” circular route starts and ends at the castle. The full 13.9 km route passes the Hluboček pond and several gazebos. Three other hiking loops can be compared by distance and elevation difference: KAMÉNKA is 5.7 km long with an elevation difference of 86 m, while CHRÁSTKA is 6.2 km long with an elevation difference of 96 m. CHRÁSTKA is therefore 0.5 km longer and has 10 m more elevation difference than KAMÉNKA. The outer LAPAČ loop, at 11.2 km with an elevation difference of 208 m, is the longest and has the greatest elevation difference of these three routes. You can use the stated measurements as a guide when choosing your route.

A cycling route also runs through Březolupy: Route No. 5055, rated as moderately difficult, runs between Topolná and Zlín and is 28 km long in total. Its difficulty rating and total distance describe the route as a whole. Conditions can change, so check them before your ride. When planning, you can choose from several hiking routes with comparable distance and elevation figures, as well as a cycling route with its own difficulty rating.

Sport and events

There is a freely accessible disc golf course in the park behind the Březolupy health centre. Check local conditions before your visit. The course has four tee pads and four baskets, and can be played over as many as twelve holes. The facilities may change. Disc golf is another sporting option alongside the hiking and cycling routes, with each activity offering a distinct experience.

The speedway track is also part of the town’s sporting history: championships, qualifying and youth races, league competitions and open races have been held there since 1963. The events calendar also includes a Christmas market with a communal pig slaughter and a plum brandy tasting. Dates vary from year to year. If you want to plan your trip around an event, check the relevant event dates. This way, you can choose whether to focus your trip on buildings, the landscape, outdoor activities or events.
