Rantířov offers several specific themes to consider when planning a trip: marked trails, cycling connections, local history, and event dates. The routes have different starting points and destinations, while events are tied to particular seasons or changing programs. When planning a stay, you can first decide whether you want a specific tour or event date to shape your travel period.

Local History and Milling Technology

Silver mining in the surrounding area was an important reason for the historic settlement of Rantířov. This connection provides a concrete historical context for the village. The Pekelský mlýn mill lies in the valley of the Jihlava River. It was completely renovated over a period of three years and fitted with new technology, including a new turbine; since 1993, it has once again served its original purpose. Two distinct historical themes therefore come together here: settlement connected with mining in the surrounding area, and the technical renovation of a mill.

Landscape and Nearby Destinations

The Zaječí skok Nature Reserve lies between Rantířov and Jihlava. It can be reached from Rantířov via the red-marked hiking trail. The area includes steep gneiss cliffs in the Jihlava River valley: they are 170 meters long and 30 meters high. It has been protected since 1933. This extends Rantířov’s connection with the landscape to its surroundings, without treating the nature reserve as a destination within the village itself.

Another excursion leads from Rantířov to Rounek, to a medieval mining site that recalls silver mining in Jihlava. This excursion has its own focus: while silver mining in the surrounding area was an important reason for Rantířov’s settlement, the site near Rounek recalls mining in Jihlava.

Hiking and Cycling Routes

The “Okolo 5 rybníků” loop is five kilometers long, starts at Rantířov railway station, and passes through the area around several ponds. It therefore offers a clearly defined route for trip planning. Several other marked hiking trails also pass through Rantířov. Trail markings and conditions may change, so take this into account when planning.

The cycling connections also lead to different places. A bike ride from Rantířov to Cejle follows the Jihlava River and takes the red-marked hiking route. From the Damle area on the western edge of Rantířov, there is a safe cycling connection to Jihlava. This makes it possible to distinguish between planning a ride to Cejle along the river and considering the connection to Jihlava from Damle. Route conditions and crossings on the ride to Cejle may also change.

Seasonal Dates and Events

When there is enough snow, cross-country ski tracks are groomed all the way to Jihlava. This condition is important for planning a winter trip. The regular table tennis tournament takes place every spring, usually in March or April; the exact dates vary from year to year. The programs for 2025 and 2026 also included theater performances at the Maštali in Rantířov, including performances by amateur actors from Rantířov. Theater programs and performance dates also change. If you would like to plan your stay around a particular event, check the dates for your travel year.
