Panenská Rozsíčka can be explored through a distinctive landmark: the Moravská Dyje rises in a meadow between forests, two kilometres north of the village. The spring lies below Hřeben Hill at an elevation of 653 metres. Landscape and art come together at the spring; the village adds traces of history. This gives you two distinct focal points when choosing a destination: the spring with its art installation, and the village’s history. Those who enjoy combining nature and art with local history will find several clearly distinct points of interest here.

Spring, Art and Nature Through the Seasons

At the spring stand the sculpture “Jarní studánka” and the blue-and-white tree sculpture “Zrození”. Together, they form the first stop on the Kristkovy podyjské glyptotéky. Lubo Kristek created this artistic pilgrimage route in 2005–2006; it passes through the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia and comprises sculptural stops. The spring is therefore both a specific place in the landscape and the starting point of a cross-border art project.

Depending on the season, spring snowflakes, primroses, daisies, carnations and a yellow iris bloom at the spring. If nature is a particular priority, you can take the time of year into account; the two sculptures offer a lasting connection to art.

Eleven stately lime trees stand around the school and in the village square. This means the village square, as well as the spring, offers its own green landmark in the village landscape.

Hiking Trail and Cycling Route

The trails also offer different ways to find your bearings. Near Panenská Rozsíčka, a green-marked hiking trail runs from Třešť to the source of the Moravská Dyje. Cycling route 5091 passes through Panenská Rozsíčka and then continues for 2.1 kilometres to the spring. Třešť and the green markings help you navigate the hiking trail, while the cycling route is identified by number 5091 and the section leading to the spring. The 2.1 kilometres refer to this section from Panenská Rozsíčka to the spring, not to the entire cycling route. Check route details before setting out.

History and Village Landscape

The earliest known mention of Panenská Rozsíčka probably dates from 1351. The earliest known mention of Panenská Rozsíčka probably dates from 1351. From 1538, part of Panenská Rozsíčka belonged to the Nová Říše monastery; the other part, as well as Bezděkov and Stejští, belonged to the Vencelík estate of Třešť. Thus, 1351 marks the early mention, while 1538 marks a later division of landholding—two distinct historical points of reference.

An iron cross on a granite plinth was erected in 1851. A similar iron cross on a granite plinth stands in the lower part of Panenská Rozsíčka; the year 1864 is engraved there. The two dates have different meanings: 1851 marks the erection of one cross, while 1864 is the inscription on the similar cross.

Accommodation with a Local History

Penzion Dyje was created through the extensive renovation of the local school building. Its architectural history offers a distinct accommodation-related point of interest alongside the natural and artistic attractions at the spring.
