Get to know Cerekvička through its landscape, architecture and historical route context. The Jihlávka, the Rosický potok and the valley to the north provide clear geographical points of reference for the area. In Rosice, a chapel and a wayside shrine represent different forms of local cultural heritage. Cerekvička-Rosice also took part in the Stříbrné pomezí tourism information project.

Watercourses and the valley to the north

The Jihlávka runs along the western boundary of the Cerekvička cadastral area. In the northern part, the Jihlávka Valley lies at an altitude of 532 metres above sea level; there, the Rosický potok flows into the Jihlávka from the right. The stream flows through Cerekvička. This distinguishes the two watercourses’ connections to the village: the Rosický potok flows through Cerekvička, while the Jihlávka follows the western cadastral boundary. The Podvesní pond is near Cerekvička and adds another named body of water to this picture of the landscape.

Chapel and wayside shrines

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Rosice is a small brick chapel with vernacular Classicist forms dating from 1840. It is a prominent feature of the village square; the lintel above the door also bears the date 1840. Here, the architecture, materials and date can all be considered together in a single building. Its classification as a 19th-century structure gives the general timeframe, while the date on the lintel is more specific.

The wayside shrine in Rosice dates from the 18th century and stands about 200 metres northwest of the village, on the road to Čížov. A fragment of a wayside shrine on the road from Cerekvička to Vílanec bears the carved date 1789. The two monuments offer different points of reference: for the shrine in Rosice, its location and century of origin are helpful; for the fragment, a specific inscription takes centre stage. Together, they offer insight into different local connections and historical periods.

A former mill on the Jihlávka

A former mill on the Jihlávka in Cerekvička is now known as Motorest Mlýn. This adds a connection to the site’s former riverside use to the local history represented by the chapel and wayside shrines. If you plan to use any public facilities there, check what is currently available in advance.

Stříbrné pomezí: Routes and orientation

Cerekvička-Rosice took part in the Stříbrné pomezí tourism information system, which was set up from 2009 to 2011 to promote tourism and improve tourist information services. Information boards with overview maps, local information and details of local attractions were installed along the project routes in the participating municipalities. Maps and local knowledge thus connected an overview of the routes with information about each municipality. A total of 270 kilometres of hiking and cycling routes were marked as part of the project; about 12 kilometres of them ran in the Jihlava area. For current navigation, check the route and signage in advance.
