Prusy-Boškůvky: Cultural Monuments, Fortress Traces and Routes
Accommodation in Prusy-Boškůvky
Prusy-Boškůvky offers several starting points for planning your trip: Baroque architectural history, traces of a former fortress, walks by the municipal pond, and long-distance hiking and cycling routes. When looking for a hotel, you can first decide whether local history, nature, or outdoor activities will be the main focus of your stay.
Cultural History in Moravské Prusy and Boškůvky
The Baroque Church of St. George is a landmark in Moravské Prusy. It was built in 1733 to the plans of architect Domenico Martinelli and is a cultural monument. The year of construction provides a specific date in the history of the village; the attribution to the architect also helps place the church more precisely in context.
A bell tower dating from the end of the first half of the 18th century stands in the village square in Boškůvky. It too is a cultural monument. The former fortress takes us further back into local history: its origins are associated with the end of the 14th and the beginning of the 15th century. The outlines of a central hill and the surrounding moat are still visible at the abandoned fortress site.
The church and bell tower stand in contrast to the older fortress story: their construction dates to the 18th century, while the fortress’s origins are associated with the end of the 14th and the beginning of the 15th century. Local history thus brings together buildings and visible traces in the landscape from different eras.
The cultural centre is used for cultural events such as balls, the local church feast, children’s carnival, senior citizens’ gatherings, Christmas celebrations, Mother’s Day events, and children’s theatre. The programme therefore includes different occasions for a range of age groups.
Ponds and Nature
The new municipal pond is part of a biocorridor that runs through the cadastral area of Prusy-Boškůvky. It can be visited on walks in the surrounding area. The body of water called Pruský rybník also lies north of Prusy-Boškůvky.
Another nature spot is in Zouvalka. Fragments of steppe vegetation of the type Cirsio-Brachypodium pinanti are preserved there, along with populations of specially protected plant species. Nature highlights therefore include both walks by the municipal pond and botanically identified fragments of vegetation.
Hiking and Cycling
A blue-marked long-distance hiking route passes through Moravské Prusy on the route from Vyškov to Bučovice. Long-distance cycling route No. 5029 runs from Vyškov via Prusy-Boškůvky to Koryčany. The hiking route is identified by its blue markings and the cycling route by its number; both offer different options when planning active days.
Check the current hiking route markings before your trip. You should also check the cycling route details again before setting out.
Horse Riding and Active Recreation
Children and adults can join the Stáj Boškůvky Riding Club and take up horse riding. The TJ Sokol sports complex has a small-sided football pitch, two sand-filled nohejbal courts, and an artificial-turf pitch, all of which can be used for active recreation. The options range from joining a riding club to using various sports facilities. When planning your trip, you can consider these separately from the long-distance hiking and cycling routes as sporting highlights.
