In Šaratice, cultural and historical themes meet local landscapes and individual, dated events. The village’s history includes the Church of St. Nicholas and the water extraction associated with Šaratica; the Kopeček hill helps orient visitors in the terrain. The events in summer 2026 took place on specific dates.

The Church of St. Nicholas and its building history

The Church of St. Nicholas in Šaratice was built in 1903 in the Neo-Romanesque style, on the site of a small Gothic church. It was consecrated on 4 August 1903. The church tower is 45 metres high. The year of construction and the consecration date refer to different aspects: the year places the building’s construction in context, while the calendar date specifies its consecration. Together with the Gothic predecessor, they show the sequence of the church’s development at the same site.

The Neo-Romanesque style describes the architectural language of the building erected in 1903, while the small Gothic church marks an earlier building phase. The tower’s height adds a specific measurement to these historical details. For travellers interested in sacred architecture and local history, the style, predecessor building, consecration and height are distinct but related aspects.

Kopeček: location and landform

East of Šaratice, Kopeček lies on a gentle slope between the Šaratice–Hrušky and Šaratice–Milešovice roads. The hill is about five metres high; a ditch and rampart border its northeastern side. The roads describe its location, while the ditch and rampart mark the specified side of the landform. This makes it possible to identify Kopeček both by its location and by its distinctive boundary features.

Šaratica and the spring landscape

Šaratica water has been extracted at Kalužiny since 1896. The Šaratica catchment area lies in the landscape around Újezd u Brna. Protection zones for the natural medicinal spring were designated by Decree IL-480.4 of 21 June 1963. The years refer to different matters: 1896 marks the start of extraction, while 1963 is the date of the legal act establishing the protection zones. These details link water extraction, landscape and the protection of the natural medicinal spring without suggesting that they describe the same thing.

Dated events in summer 2026

At the Brunch na farní zahradě in Šaratice on 18 July 2026, participants could bring a sweet or savoury dish to share at the communal table. The format combined choosing a dish with sharing a meal. The next event was the Tradiční Šaratické hody 2026 on 16 August: after the stárkovský slib was made and the hodové právo handed over, a procession followed through the village.

The Dopravní stezka Šaratice, with 15 stations about road signs and traffic safety, was also available from 1 to 31 August 2026. Participants could pick up a puzzle card, visit all the stations, decipher a final solution and receive a small gift. The activity combined a traffic-themed route with a puzzle and a small gift, making it different from the set steps of the Hody programme.

These events took place in summer 2026. If you would like to combine a future stay with a festival or activity, check the relevant event dates when planning your trip.
