When looking for a hotel for a trip to Přísnotice, it helps to decide what you would like to focus on during your stay. The village combines a church with a datable building history and local memorials with a long-distance cycling route and a variety of natural features. These themes operate on different scales: some describe individual monuments, while others relate to the village’s position within a larger route or landscape.

Church of Saint Wenceslas

The Church of Saint Wenceslas is a clear point of reference for the area’s architectural history. It was built in 1873 on the site of a chapel dating from 1861 and expanded with two side aisles in 1905. It is considered a valuable example of rural sacred architecture from the late Historicist period and is used for church services. For travelers interested in cultural history, it brings together a datable phase of construction, a specific architectural classification and continuing religious use.

Memorials in Přísnotice

The memorials also offer different historical points of reference. The reconciliation cross is considered the oldest surviving monument in the municipality. A monument to the victims of both World Wars stands in the park on the village square. On the “prostředních pásech” there is a monument to Kryštof Krause; it is weathered. The monuments thus represent different forms of remembrance: of the municipality, the victims of both World Wars and a named individual.

Cycling route and path to the reconciliation cross

The Jantarová stezka long-distance cycling route passes through Přísnotice. Its transregional route runs from Poland through Moravia to Austria, making the village part of a connection that extends well beyond the local area. There is a separate route note for the reconciliation cross: a description updated in 2013 directs visitors there via the rest stop by kilometer 24 of the Brno–Vienna cycling route. If this section is important to your tour, check the route in advance. The Jantarová stezka places Přísnotice on a long-distance route; the note about the reconciliation cross concerns a path on the Brno–Vienna cycling route.

Landscape and nature

There are two small water basins in the northern part of Přísnotice, and a small pond lies to the southwest. The extensive Nosislavský les stretches from the eastern edge of the village. The water features are located to the north and southwest; the extensive Nosislavský les stretches from the eastern edge of the village. These features are relevant if you would like to explore Přísnotice not only through its architectural and commemorative history, but also through its landscape.

The Přísnotický les site, which is significant at the European level, lies in the central part of the Dyje-Svratka Valley Basin, on the right bank of the Šatava and 1 km northeast of the village center. This places the natural area in context both in relation to the village and within the wider landscape. A thriving population of fire-bellied toads (Bombina bombina) regularly breeds in the wetlands of Knížecí les; the great crested newt (Triturus cristatus) is found in Přísnotický les. Wildlife and different natural features are therefore also part of the picture of Přísnotice.
