Hluboké Dvory can be understood through a range of features: a flat upland plateau with deeply incised valleys, the Krkatá bába rock group, and historic sites around the chapel and Trmačov. For planning your trip, the cycle route and marked hiking trails offer practical points of reference: cycle route 5268 passes through the village, while the described walking trails lead to specific destinations.

Landscape and Krkatá bába

The cadastral area of Hluboké Dvory consists of a flat upland plateau with deep valleys cut by the Lubě stream and its tributaries. The terrain is therefore not uniformly level: the plateau and incised valleys are its main landscape features. The Lubě is also the reference point for the location of the Krkatá bába rock group.

This group stretches for about 500 metres along the left bank of the Lubě. It includes rock towers and blocks up to 15 metres high. The best-known rock tower resembles a head on a long neck. This distinctive silhouette describes a single tower within the larger rock group.

Krkatá bába is protected as a natural monument. Its protected features include significant rock formations and natural dwarf oak-pine communities. The rock group lies partly within the cadastral area of Hluboké Dvory and can be reached by a walkable tourist trail. As trail conditions may change, check them before your visit.

Cycle route and marked trails

Cycle route 5268 passes through Hluboké Dvory on the route Žernovník – Lubě – Trmačov – Skalička. Cycle route 5268 is a cycling route; marked hiking trails lead on foot to individual destinations.

From Hluboké Dvory, a blue-marked trail heads south to the Trmačov ruins, just under a kilometre away. The short distance makes them a nearby destination; check trail conditions locally.

Chapel, fortress and remembrance

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary dates from 1838. It contains statues of the Virgin Mary and Saint John of Nepomuk. Beside the chapel stands a marble cross on a sandstone base dating from 1906. The chapel and cross are therefore two distinct historic points of reference, each with its own date.

The Trmačov fortress was built less than a kilometre south of present-day Hluboké Dvory. It is explicitly documented for the years 1350 to 1418; by 1466, it is already mentioned as abandoned. The Trmačov ruins are designated a state-protected cultural monument. When placing the site in its historical context, distinguish between the documented years and the later mention of its abandoned state.

A blue-marked hiking trail from Trmačov leads to a large partisan memorial dating from 1946. It commemorates the resistance activities of General Luža’s 3rd Assault Company. The company resisted in the Tišnov region from 1944 to 1945. These details refer to two different points in time: the resistance being commemorated and the memorial’s construction. Together with the fortress and the features by the chapel, they paint a picture of historic sites spanning more than one era.
