Velká Turná combines architectural history with a landscape shaped by ponds. If you are looking for hotels for your stay, you can plan your trip around three different interests: local architecture, fish farming or activities in the open countryside. The village’s features give each of these interests a specific point of reference.

Chapel, watermill and farmstead

The Chapel of St John of Nepomuk stands in Velká Turná’s village square. After its restoration, it was consecrated on 19 May 2007. It links the village square to a clearly dated stage in its history. The chapel offers an introduction to local architectural history, distinct from the watermill and the surrounding landscape.

A protected watermill stands on the Rojický potok. The watermill complex is exceptionally well preserved and dates from the Renaissance. Its protected status, location by the stream and Renaissance origins offer a different perspective on the architectural heritage from that of the chapel in the village square.

The rural farmstead at No. 54 in Velká Turná also dates from the first half of the 19th century. It comprises a dwelling house, stables and a barn. Its preserved wing gable in the Empire style has a triangular pediment. Together, the residential and farm buildings make this a different architectural theme from the mill: the focus here is on the layout of a rural farmstead.

The buildings offer different historical reference points: the mill complex’s Renaissance origins, the farmstead’s construction in the first half of the 19th century, and the chapel’s consecration after restoration on 19 May 2007.

Pond landscape and outdoor stays

The Milava pond lies within the administrative area of Velká Turná. Velká Turná is also a fish-farming area with opportunities for angling. For your planning, these are two distinct aspects: Milava is a specific pond, while fish farming and angling reflect the area’s broader landscape and recreational character.

Cycle routes and rail travel

Walking and cycling are important ways to enjoy the open countryside in Velká Turná. Two marked cycle routes pass through the village: Route 1209 follows the Láz–Rojice–Velká Turná–Dubí hora route; Route 1208 follows the Holušice–Velká Turná–Malá Turná–Osek–Petroviče–Brloh route. The different sequences of villages offer a practical starting point for choosing your route. Check the cycle-route signs locally before setting off.

Velká Turná railway station is on line 203 between Březnice and Strakonice. If you are including rail travel in your plans, check the current timetable before your trip, as timetables and operating details may change.
