The two formats differ in their target groups and activities: the camps are aimed at children, while the lessons cover the stated range of experience from beginner to advanced.
Local history and settlement pattern
The village of Lom is first mentioned in writing in a royal charter issued by John of Luxembourg and dated 24 August 1341. The same charter mentions a farm called Lom with fields, forests and meadows. The early reference therefore connects the farm’s name with three explicitly named types of land.
The 2024 municipal land-use assessment describes a masonry bell tower in the centre of Lom, bearing the year 1882. It also mentions an iron cross, two side windows and a sheet-metal roof over the entrance; the tower roof is covered with fired clay tiles. The dates have different roles: 1341 dates the charter, while 1882 is the year displayed on the bell tower.
The original settlement pattern of the municipality of Lom is described in the 2024 land-use assessment as predominantly rural and characterised by agricultural homesteads and farmsteads. The buildings generally have rectangular, and occasionally L-shaped, floor plans and usually gabled roofs.
Landscape and historical traces
The Lomnice River floodplain lies in the northern part of the Míreč cadastral area and is listed in the 2024 municipal land-use assessment as a significant landscape feature protected by law. The Lom area also includes the Střížovický vrch–Buzičky regional ecological corridor. These are two distinct categories: the legally protected river floodplain and a regional ecological corridor.
Traces of human labour from historical gold panning can still be found along the Lomnice River near Míreč. The area where gold was once panned bears the local name V jamkách because of the depressions created in the process. The name thus connects the former activity with a specific landform.
