Milínov: Discover village history, nature and trails
Accommodation in Milínov
Milínov combines a historic village setting with trails through a landscape rich in forests. When planning your stay, you can distinguish between two main areas of interest: the village green with its farmhouses and façades, and trails to cultural and landscape destinations. These routes have different starting points and destinations. Keeping them separate makes it easier to plan time for local history and outings, without combining several trails into a single route.
Historic Architecture in the Village
Milínov’s elongated village green is lined with farmhouses with gabled fronts, gates and Neoclassical gables. The village’s appearance is shaped here by the succession of farmhouses along the green. The village chapel, dating from around 1800, has a Late Baroque façade with articulated detailing. The former school, with its eclectic façade, is located on the edge of the village. Distinct architectural features can therefore be seen side by side: Neoclassical gables on the farmhouses, the chapel’s Late Baroque design and the eclectic façade of the former school building. This offers three specific points of reference for exploring the area’s cultural history: the houses and gates along the green, the chapel and the former school on the edge of the village.
Forest Landscape and Lopata Castle Ruins
Milínov lies in a remote landscape between forests. Pramný Hill, designated a natural monument, lies east of the village. Lopata Castle Ruins are about two kilometres north of Milínov, on a 420-metre-high hill above the valley of the Kornatický potok. The ruins are protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and are part of the nature reserve of the same name. Thus, Lopata has two distinct types of protected status: it is a cultural monument and part of a nature reserve. Its direction and approximate distance help locate the ruins in relation to Milínov; its elevation and the valley describe its setting in the landscape.
Distinguishing Routes by Destination and Mode of Travel
A marked hiking trail leads from Milínov to Lopata Castle Ruins. Cycle Route 2039 also leads there from the Milínov area. The routes differ in their mode of travel and starting area: the hiking trail starts in Milínov, while the cycle route leads to the ruins from the area around the village. Check the markings on site, as trail conditions and signage may change.
The reconstructed Kolejka forest road is in the cadastral area of Milínov. It is 1,431 metres long and connects the tourist signpost below Lopata with Neslívský Pond. Another yellow-marked hiking trail leads north from the former school in Milínov to Mariina vyhlídka. It is also advisable to check the trail markings on site. You can distinguish the different routes by their destinations: Lopata is accessible via a hiking trail and a cycle route, Kolejka connects the signpost and the pond, and the yellow hiking trail leads from the former school to the viewpoint. For Kolejka, the length and endpoints are specified; for the yellow trail, the direction and destination provide guidance.
