Most of Kaznějov lies in a basin surrounded by forests. Educational trails, the kaolin landscape, and local routes offer different starting points for planning a stay. For the educational trails in particular, it is worth considering the length and waypoints separately.

Educational Trails and Waypoints

The Naučná stezka Kaznějov is 14 kilometres long and has eight stops at significant locations, mostly within the city’s cadastral area. One stop provides information about the valley of the Kaznějovský potok. The shorter, 7-kilometre option omits the turn-off to the viewpoint above the kaolin mine. So the choice is about more than the overall distance: it also depends on whether you want to include this turn-off in your route.

Another local educational trail is the Místní naučný turistický okruh Kaznějov. It has three information boards. This circular route also includes a covered outdoor seating area next to the Kaznějov railway station building. So there are two differently described routes to choose from: one with eight stops at significant locations, and one with three information boards and seating by the station.

Kaolin Landscape and Local History

The first written mention of Kaznějov is connected with the founding of the Cistercian monastery in Plasy in the mid-12th century. This places the town in regional history and establishes a chronological link with the monastery.

Nearby, Kaolinka Kaznějov is designated as a geotourism attraction and geosite. The Kaznějov kaolin mine is not open to the public; nevertheless, check local conditions before travelling. A viewpoint on the road between Kaznějov and Mrtník offers a view of the mine. This makes it possible to distinguish between the mine, which is not open to the public, and the described viewpoint as separate visitor destinations.

Cycling and Leisure

Local cycle route 2304 passes through Kaznějov and connects with the longer-distance cycle routes 35 and 352. As route numbers and signage can change, check the route using local signs before your ride.

An inline skating track runs through Kaznějov from the former ice stadium to the outdoor swimming pool on the left bank of the Kaznějovský potok. There is also the bathing facility or retention pond known as “koupaliště Kaznějov.” These local details give you specific places to consider when planning where to skate and swim during your stay.

Sports and Events

The municipal sports development plan, adopted on 4 June 2025 for the period 2026 to 2030, lists the Kaznějovský Doběh as a traditional amateur run for all age groups. It also lists the Kynologický klub Kaznějov’s traditional spring walking event for the public in the area around Kaznějov. If you want to plan your trip around either of these events, check the specific date in advance.
