Holysov offers several different highlights for a stay: local and wartime history, cultural events, a nature trail and the Radbuza. You can tailor your choices depending on whether you would like to include exhibitions, memorial sites, a themed route or a trip in an open boat.

History and Culture

At the Dům dějin Holýšovska, you can visit exhibitions on the history of Holýšov and the history of the Second World War in Holýšov. The two subjects offer different historical perspectives and give a clear local focus to a visit to the museum.

The same building also hosts concerts, lectures and educational programmes for children. If you are planning a visit focused on a concert or lecture, it is a good idea to check the event schedule before your trip.

A memorial plaque on the wall of a farmstead commemorates the Holýšov subcamp. The female prisoners were housed at this farmstead. While exhibitions are the focus at the Dům, the plaque at the farmstead recalls the history of the subcamp.

The Church of Saints Peter and Paul adds architectural history to the historical themes. It is a Gothic church dating from the 14th century and was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1743. The dates mark two phases: its Gothic origins and the later Baroque remodelling.

Nature Trail and the Radbuza

The Naučná stezka II Holýšov starts at náměstí 5. května. It is about 7.5 kilometres long and has five learning stations with six information panels. The route thus combines a specific distance with learning stations and information panels along the way.

From the starting point, it passes the memorial tree in Nový Dvůr, the former concentration camp, Hamerský Mlýn, the barracks and the former village of Trubce. The route therefore links several named waypoints with historical significance.

The Radbuza flows through Holýšov and is navigable for most of the year. Trips in an open boat are considered uncomplicated. The options described differ from those on the Naučná stezka II: the route is characterised by its length and learning stations, while the Radbuza is noted for being navigable for most of the year and for trips in an open boat.
