Dobriv combines technical history with exhibitions and designated routes. The Vodní hamr, the Jindřich Mošna Memorial Hall and the Švédský kamenný most offer different points of interest; hiking and cycling routes add specific destinations and directions to the character of the town.

Technical Monument and Ironworking

The Vodní hamr Dobřív is a fully operational technical monument dating from the late 19th century. Its exhibition covers ironworking in the Podbrdsko region and the iron industry in Dobřív. This brings together a specific technical monument and two perspectives on ironworking: the regional connection to Podbrdsko and the history of local industry. Those interested in technology will find not only a historic technical monument here, but also a contextual overview of the ironworking craft. Hamernický den takes place every year on the third Saturday in May at the site of the Vodní hamr national cultural monument. Before travelling, check the date for the relevant year if you plan to attend the event.

Other Cultural and Historical Connections

The exhibition in the Jindřich Mošna Memorial Hall was established in 2005—in a house that had previously been home to his wife’s family. This links the named exhibition to a specific part of the house’s history. In terms of its subject matter, it is a distinct cultural and historical point of interest alongside the ironworking at the Vodní hamr.

Bridge and Hiking Trails

The built heritage is also present along the routes. The Švédský kamenný most in Dobřív is a single-arch rubble-stone bridge over the Padrťský potok. The terms describe different features: “single-arch” refers to the bridge’s form, while “rubble stone” describes the material used. A blue-marked hiking trail leads from the village square to the Švédský most and then through an avenue to the Vodní hamr. A yellow-marked KČT hiking trail also starts at the village square, but heads north into Trhoň Nature Park. If you are choosing between the two hiking destinations, the route descriptions point to different directions and endpoints: the blue route leads to the bridge and hamr, while the yellow route leads to Trhoň Nature Park. Markings and trail conditions may change; check the current situation before setting out.

Cycling Towards Prague or Brdy

There are two cycling routes to distinguish. Dobřív lies on long-distance cycle route number 3, which connects Regensburg and Prague; route conditions may change. Cycle route 2251 leads directly from Dobřív into the hills of the Brdy Protected Landscape Area; trail conditions, markings and access arrangements may change. These offer different points of reference for choosing a route: one connects two named cities, while the other leads into the hills of Brdy. You can plan accordingly, depending on whether you prefer the long-distance connection or a destination in the protected landscape area.
