If you are looking for a hotel in Chlumčany U Přeštic, local attractions can help you plan the character of your stay. Two educational trails reveal different sides of the town: a modern stone circle stands on Hujáb Hill, and the MotoMuzeum Chlumčany is dedicated to motorcycles. This gives you specific options to focus on—a historical walk, a route between industrial themes and nature, or a motorcycle collection.

Two educational trails, different focuses

The “Lidé a kultura Chlumčan” educational trail runs around Hujáb Hill. At 2.8 kilometres long, it includes six information stops about the history of Chlumčany. The stops give the route a historical thread. The trail is suitable for walkers, cyclists and families with children, and can be traversed with a stroller. As access conditions may change, check local information before your visit.

At six kilometres, “Průmysl a příroda Chlumčan” is the longer trail. It leads from the market square through the industrial district to a forest pond. Two information stops give more detail on its themes. One is titled “Keramička Chlumčany – kaolin – bílé zlato” and mentions ceramics and kaolin; “bílé zlato” means “white gold.” Another is called “Šavlice Chlumčany – rybníky, lesy, přírodní oázy,” bringing together the landscape aspects of the trail with its references to ponds, forests and natural oases. The choice is clear: “Lidé a kultura” connects local history with a route around Hujáb, while “Průmysl a příroda” leads from the market square to the forest pond and places industrial and nature themes side by side.

Stone Circle on Hujáb and Chapel

A modern megalithic stone circle stands on Hujáb. It consists of 16 large perimeter stones, a central menhir and four additional menhirs. This description identifies both the outer ring and the centre, as well as the other menhirs.

The “Lidé a kultura Chlumčan” educational trail leads to the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, formerly called “Matky Boží Pomocné.” The Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is a Baroque building dating from 1749 to 1751. For those interested in cultural history, two points of reference come together here: the former name and the clearly dated Baroque construction. Together with the six information stops, this gives the history trail a specific architectural connection.

Motorcycle Collection at the MotoMuzeum

The MotoMuzeum Chlumčany opened in 2011. Its collection includes complete pre-war series of motorcycles by JAWA, ČZ and Praga. The exhibition also includes a complete collection of ČZ and ESO motocross special machines. These sections offer different points of focus: the pre-war series from three manufacturers are presented alongside the motocross special machines. There are currently 160 motorcycles on display; the number may change as the collection grows. For motorcycle enthusiasts, both the range of manufacturers represented in the pre-war series and the focus on motocross provide specific points to consider when planning a trip.
