Velké Losiny brings together papermaking heritage, château history, thermal pools and walking trails. If you’re looking for a hotel for a stay here, you can choose what to focus on based on your interests: if culture and history are your priorities, the paper mill and château offer different ways to explore them. The thermal park adds pools and a sauna to these attractions, while educational and hiking trails lead to stories of trees, scenic views or routes along the Desná River.

Paper Mill and Château History

The Ruční papírna Velké Losiny complex was declared a national cultural monument in 2002. Today, the mill is one of Europe’s oldest businesses of its kind still in operation. Its history can be seen in more than just its buildings: during a visit, the mill combines an introductory tour with the opportunity to make your own sheet of handmade paper. If you plan to take part, check the current booking conditions before your visit.

Velké Losiny Château also combines architecture with a specific historical context. The tour route includes rare Renaissance interiors and an arcaded gallery. Highlights include unique leather and textile wall coverings, as well as 17th-century tapestries. The route also includes a memorial to the witch trials. The château therefore offers both distinctive interior design and a historical perspective.

Thermal Pools and Sauna

TERMÁLY LOSINY has nine thermal pools with water temperatures of up to 36 °C. The indoor and outdoor pools are fed by the natural Žerotín thermal spring, which rises from a depth of more than 1,000 m. The sauna world offers four types of sauna. This lets you choose between the pools and the sauna area during your stay, rather than treating them as the same offering.

The sauna area is accessible via a lift from the swimming hall. Facilities and temperatures may change, so it’s a good idea to check the thermal park’s current information before your visit.

Educational and Hiking Trails

The “Kolem stromů, které něco zažily” (“Around Trees That Have Seen Things”) educational trail passes through part of Velké Losiny and tells the stories of twenty trees. It has 20 stops and is approximately 5 km long. This trail is suitable for children, pushchairs and wheelchair users. The stories of the trees, the number of stops and the approximate distance give you several specific points to consider when choosing this trail; the distance is explicitly approximate.

Another option is the “Naučná stezka Velkých Losin” educational trail, which starts at the Church of St. John the Baptist and offers views of the Jeseníky mountain ridge. The Velké Losiny–Rapotín hiking route offers a different focus. It leads from Lázně Velké Losiny past Velké Losiny Château towards Rapotín, running mostly along the Desná River. This gives you a choice between a trail with tree stops, one with views of the mountain ridge and a route that follows the river. Check current route information before your hike, as the route may change.

These attractions offer different focuses when planning a stay: the paper mill combines cultural history with hands-on papermaking, while the château showcases Renaissance interiors and historic memorial sites. Pools and the sauna are the main attractions at the thermal park; on the trails, you can choose based on the stops, views or route along the Desná. You can use these themes to guide your hotel search around what you’d like to experience in Velké Losiny.
