Hanušovice combines cultural history with themes related to brewing, paddling and cycling. If you are looking for a hotel in Hanusovice, you can start planning your trip by deciding what you want to focus on: Would you like to explore dated church architecture, schedule a brewery tour, or choose a route along the Morava? The differences below will help you put together activities tailored to your stay.

Information and practical planning

The Hanušovice Tourist Information Centre rents trekking poles and provides bicycle service assistance. If either service is important to your plans, check availability in advance; it may change. The centre also provides information about cultural monuments, natural attractions, and train and car routes in Czechia. Its information therefore covers everything from culture and nature to transport routes with nationwide connections.

Cultural history and architecture

The Church of St. Nicholas (Farní kostel sv. Mikuláše) in Hanušovice has a late Renaissance core dating from 1656 and two side chapels. It was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1783. The church grounds also include a Baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk dating from 1748. Chronologically, the statue falls between the older core and the later remodelling; both the statue and the remodelling also point to Baroque elements on the grounds.

The former manor court (bývalá rychta) offers a different architectural feature: the building has two stone cellars arranged one behind the other, with barrel vaults. The Chapel of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary (Obětování Panny Marie) has a hexagonal turret with a lantern, an onion dome and a finial. These distinct architectural features sit side by side: dated construction phases at the church, vaulted cellars at the former manor court, and a striking tower form at the chapel.

Museum and brewery tour

The Pivovarské muzeum Hanušovice is fully accessible. Confirm that the facilities you need will be accessible before you travel. You can book a brewery tour at Pivovar Holba; as booking arrangements may change, check them in advance. The museum and tour therefore offer different points of interest for travellers interested in local culture and brewing.

Paddling and cycling along the Morava

The Vodácká stezka Morava offers 86 kilometres of paddling on the Hanušovice–Olomouc section. The Hanušovice–Postřelmov section reaches difficulty grade WW1. The distance and grade therefore do not refer to the same section: the 86 kilometres apply to Hanušovice–Olomouc, while the grade of up to WW1 applies to Hanušovice–Postřelmov. When planning, bear in mind that river conditions and navigability vary seasonally, and that the difficulty grade depends on water conditions.

For cycling, two routes can be distinguished by their courses. The YEScyklo-Pivovarský okruh runs from Hanušovice to Rejchartické sedlo, from where there is a wide view over the Jeseníky Mountains. The Moravská stezka runs largely along the Morava from Hanušovice to Mohelnice. This gives you two different reference points: a destination with expansive mountain views and a route that follows the river for much of its course.
