Třeština draws attention to its medieval village character, buildings from different periods and practical options for active days. The main features to consider when planning your trip are the protected village area, the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua, farmsteads and the Háj waterworks. A 40-kilometre cycling route runs through Třeština and Háj; there are also riding lessons and an option to rent canoeing equipment.

Village Character and Architecture

The protected village area preserves the urban layout of an originally one-sided medieval colonist village, founded on a ridge above a valley. Visitors can therefore take in both the overall layout and individual buildings. Historic façades within the protected area feature floral, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic decorations—plant, animal and human motifs. The settlement pattern and the details of the façade designs can thus be viewed as two distinct aspects of the village character.

The single-nave Neo-Gothic Church of Saint Anthony of Padua was completed in 1866 and stands on the site of an earlier chapel. Its square tower with an onion dome stands out as a distinctive architectural feature. The construction date and the earlier building offer different historical points of reference: the date places the church in the 19th century, while the chapel indicates the site’s earlier use.

The rural architecture can also be explored through two different farmsteads. Farmstead No. 2 is a type of rural estate unusual in the region and is distinguished by its richly decorated main façade. The protected agricultural estate No. 33 dates from 1837; its features include a plastered, richly articulated façade and a vaulted interior. At No. 2, the unusual type of estate is the main focus, while at No. 33, the construction date, façade design and interior add to the picture.

At the crossroads towards Dubicko and Police stands the Vysoudilova Chapel, built in 1745: a triangular masonry wayside shrine. This type of structure differs from the single-nave church and represents another form of religious heritage. The cultural tradition also includes ceramic figurative sculpture from Třeština, associated with the traditional handicrafts of the Olomouc Region.

Technology and Nature

The Háj hydroelectric power station was built between 1921 and 1924. It is an important technical monument and a work of Czech interwar modernism. The electricity generated at the station was also intended to supply the nearby municipality of Třeština. The historic connection with Třeština therefore lies in the planned supply: the municipality, too, was to receive electricity from the station.

One natural feature is the legally protected orchid Epipactis albensis. It was recorded on 10 September 2025 in a meadow and riverside woodland at a bend in the Morava River near the Třeština weir. Its presence can vary seasonally. If you are interested in protected plants, this seasonal variation is relevant to your planning.

Cycling and Other Activities

The 40-kilometre route “To the Sights of Háj and Úsov” passes through Třeština and Háj, then follows the Morava’s riverbank embankment. One section forms part of the Moravian Trail long-distance cycle route. The length and course provide a concrete framework for choosing a route; its connection to the long-distance cycle route places part of the journey within a wider cycling network. Check the route conditions before setting off.

The Jezdecký oddíl Dubicko Třeština-Háj riding club offers riding lessons for adults and young people. The riding facility includes 20 horse stalls, large paddocks, a large sand riding arena and an indoor riding hall. If you are considering riding lessons, check the current arrangements before you arrive; operational details can also change.

At Vila Háj, you can rent canoeing equipment through the IN-LIFE Morava boat rental service. Availability and booking arrangements may change; check the current options before your trip.
