Tištín combines architectural and local history with opportunities for walking, cycling and sports. Highlights include the Church of St Peter and St Paul, the varied history of uses of the Obecní besídka, the pond and a cycling route along a disused railway line. You can plan your stay around cultural history or outdoor activities.

Church and Local History

The Church of St Peter and St Paul was built between 1710 and 1719 on the site of an older church. The church and the adjoining grounds are listed as cultural monuments in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. The construction period of the present church building and the older ecclesiastical site are both important to local history. Anyone interested in the development of the town will find a tangible connection here to the early 18th century.

The Obecní besídka offers a different perspective on local history. The building was originally built as a chapel and later converted into a grain store. Today, the ground floor houses a library, while the first floor has an exhibition gallery on the history of the municipality. The succession of former and present-day uses gives the building its own character: architectural history and local history come together in different rooms.

The Malý háječek grounds also add a detail from the local history of recreation: they include a dance floor from the 1950s known as “betonek.” It adds a different perspective on Tištín to the stories of the church and municipal building: that of a place associated with dancing and socializing.

Walks, the Pond and the Cycling Route

The pond in Tištín is a destination for walks and for young people’s sporting activities in summer and winter. The grounds also include a landscaped biocorridor and a biocentre, which serve as routes for animal movement. This means the pond combines recreational use with a function for animals: walking and sports are one aspect, while the biocorridor and biocentre are another.

The Morkovice–Nezamyslice cycling route was built along a disused railway line and officially opened in 2012. The line’s former use gives the cycling route its own history and sets it apart from a walk by the pond. If you’d like to include some outdoor activity in your plans, you can choose between different options: walks and seasonal sporting activities by the pond, or cycling along the disused railway line.

Sports and Events

The multi-purpose sports court below the cycling route is equipped for futsal, floorball, football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and badminton. The options range from ball and team sports to tennis and badminton. The key factor in your planning is the specific sport: the court is not limited to a single discipline, but offers several different options at one sports facility.

The Sokolovna can be rented for sports, social and family events. Its facilities include a kitchen, a bar and an outdoor terrace. This makes it a different option from the multi-purpose sports court: the court is focused on specific sports, while the Sokolovna provides space for events. If an event is part of your reason for travelling, you can take this difference into account when planning.
