Zbyslavice lies in an inhabited valley between the Sezina and Polančice streams, in the Oder River basin. Forests, meadows, and intersecting hiking and cycling trails shape the landscape. On your trip, you can explore nature, local history, and bus connections.

Trails and Landscape

The Naučná stezka Zbyslavice comprises three trails, developed since 2016 in cooperation with the Zbyslavice primary and kindergarten school. One specific option for a walk is the Naučná stezka Dolní louky: it is just over one kilometre long, runs along easy terrain, and is suitable for all age groups. Twelve information boards focus on local plants and animals, including legally protected species.

The landscape of Dolní louky is also reflected in its bodies of water. The pond area includes a wetland retention basin, a water basin, and two wetland pools. Together with the information boards, these features give the walk a clear connection to local habitats and their plant and animal life.

For a cycling route, Route 6191 runs from Bravantice through Olbramice and Zbyslavice to Údolí Setiny. Along the way, it passes a windmill and goes through forested areas. This offers a different perspective on the area than the short trail through Dolní louky: the route connects several places and continues into the Setina Valley.

Traces of Local History

The former Tvrz Zbyslavice stood about 300 metres south of the town centre, on a rise above the Sezina Valley. Part of the former moat survives in the northern section of the grounds. No visible masonry remains; the uneven terrain suggests the presence of historic structures in the past. The site's history can therefore be understood through the surviving landform and section of the moat.

The Chapel of svatého Matouše is also a historic landmark; it has undergone extensive reconstruction. The small square by the chapel still served as a small town centre after the war. These two details tell different aspects of local life: the chapel's architectural development and the former role of the nearby square.

The Větrný mlýn na Vrchpolí windmill is of the Dutch type. It stands on the cadastral boundary between the municipalities of Zbyslavice and Olbramice and is privately owned. These are important details when considering the area's landmarks in terms of their history and architectural character.

Plan Your Journey and Dates

Bus route 679 connects Zbyslavice with Klimkovice, Vřesina, and Ostrava. If you plan to travel by bus, check the current timetable. This will help you plan your outward and return journeys using the right connection.

Den obce is held in mid-September every year. If you would like to combine your trip with the festival, check the date in advance. This lets you factor the occasion into your plans without tying it to a specific venue.

Zbyslavice Library is another part of the local amenities. It has Wi-Fi, computers, new books for children and adults, and an interlibrary loan system that operates across the region. As individual services may change, check the latest information before planning a visit.
