Nové Hamry brings together a range of travel interests: nature, cycling, climbing and culture. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, it may help to decide what you want to focus on first: a nature trail, cycling route, rock climbing, cultural history or rail connections. The details vary in terms of landscape, route format, surface, route grades and historical dates. If your trip includes a via ferrata or train travel, check the current conditions or connections.

Nature trails and landscape

The highest point on the Hamerská nature trail is a valuable peat bog on Tisovský vrch. If you are interested in bog landscapes, this is a specific point of interest for your stay. The Ruperta Fuchse nature trail is a 3.5-kilometre circular route with eight stops. It covers nature, history, mining, traditional crafts, tin mining and glassmaking. By comparison, the peat bog stands out as a landscape feature on the Hamerská nature trail, while Ruperta Fuchse is defined by its route format, length and themed stops. If you would like to explore nature and history as well as mining or crafts, these stop themes can help guide you.

Cycling route and via ferrata

Karlova Stežka is best suited to mountain bikes and trekking bikes, as its paths are not paved throughout. The stated path surface is therefore a practical factor to consider when choosing a bicycle.

The Seifertova via ferrata at the Nové Hamry campsite has four protected routes, graded A, B, C and D. Routes A and B are intended mainly for children and complete beginners. Nevertheless, reassess their suitability on site before using them. As the route configuration may change, check it before climbing. Equipment required for climbing the rocks can be rented at the nearby Hotel Seifert; check whether rentals are available before your visit.

Cultural history

The late Baroque Church of St John of Nepomuk was built in 1789 on a rise in the upper part of Nové Hamry. It was declared a cultural monument in 1958. A Baroque chapel in Nové Hamry is first mentioned in 1739. These dates refer to different events: 1739 is the first mention of the chapel, 1789 is the year the church was built, and 1958 is the year it was declared a cultural monument. This places these cultural landmarks in context without conflating a mention, construction and monument status.
