Tüppelsgrün: Trails, Water and Local History
Accommodation in Tüppelsgrün
If you are looking for a hotel in Tüppelsgrün, you can choose where to stay based on the area’s main attractions: architectural history, a monument, trails and activities by the water. This lets you decide before your stay whether to spend more time visiting historic sites or make room for the cycling route, natural swimming area and horse-riding activities. These themes complement one another but require different planning: dates provide a guide to local history, while access and bathing conditions should be checked before a visit.
Trails and Water
The “Water in the Landscape and Nature Around Us” educational trail leads from the centre of Děpoltovice to the local natural swimming area. Its theme focuses on water and nature, and the swimming area is also a clearly identified destination in the village. If you choose trails based on their route, this educational trail differs from cycling route No. 2012, which takes in several places and bodies of water.
Cycling route No. 2012 runs through the Děpoltovice area. Its described route goes from Nová Role to Děpoltovický rybník, continues to Velký rybník and then to Hroznětín. In the southern part of Děpoltovice, the route passes through the area of the agricultural estate and the castle before heading towards Ruprechtov. This allows you to identify the route both by its named stops and by its southern section in the village.
Děpoltovický rybník is used for swimming in a natural setting. A regional description from 2022 characterises the beaches as sandy and grassy. As beach conditions can change, check bathing conditions before you arrive. This helps distinguish this type of stay from the trails: the natural swimming area is for swimming, while the educational trail and cycling route are about their respective paths and destinations.
Monument and Architectural History
The monument to the victims of the First World War was erected in 1930. It commemorates 29 fallen soldiers from Děpoltovice and 11 from Lužec. It was completely reconstructed in the summer of 2015. These three dates and figures provide different context: the monument’s construction, its commemorative links to both places and its later reconstruction. The monument is freely accessible; check its access status before your visit, as this may change.
The chapel also offers a glimpse into the village’s older history. It was built in the 18th century, in front of half-timbered house No. 55, known as “At the Tailor’s.” It stands on a local road on the left bank of the Vitický potok in the centre of the village. The house number, house name, stream bank and central location help pinpoint this landmark without confusing it with the church or the castle.
The present-day Baroque Church of St Michael the Archangel was built in 1786–1787. It is occasionally accessible, but is not regularly open. So check before visiting whether access is possible. This is particularly relevant if you would like to see the church’s interior; occasional access does not guarantee regular opening hours.
The so-called New Castle (Nový zámek) was probably built in the second half of the 17th century. By 1843, it had been extended with a north wing in the Empire style. The grounds are accessible, while the buildings are in a dilapidated condition. Check access and conditions on site before planning a visit. Its architectural history therefore provides a different point of reference in time from the much later church and the monument, which was built in 1930.
Horse-Riding Activities in the Village
Pegas in Děpoltovice offers trail rides and riding lessons. If you would like to include this activity in your stay, confirm availability before you arrive. Horse riding adds to the options related to trails, water and local history, without requiring you to assume any particular duration or schedule.
