Záluží: Valley, Hrádek and sporting traditions
Accommodation in Záluží
Záluží lies in a valley between Cerhovice and Hořovice and stretches along the Stroupinský potok. The valley and stream shape Záluží, alongside the early history of Hrádek, sporting traditions and practical landmarks to help you find your way around during your stay. This lets you get to know Záluží through the topics that matter to your stay, rather than basing your choice on a single keyword alone.
The valley and stream
The Stroupinský potok is the stream along which Záluží stretches. It is a left-bank tributary of the Červený potok, has a catchment area of 108.515 km², and flows into this river downstream of Bavoryně. For guests interested in the town’s location and landscape, both the town’s setting and the role of the stream offer distinct points of reference. A catchment area describes the land from which water reaches the Stroupinský potok, directly or via tributaries.
Hrádek and the early history of the town
The early history of Záluží is closely connected with Hrádek Castle. Hrádek was probably a very old fortified settlement and was already described as abandoned at the beginning of the 14th century. A path leading to the site of Hrádek branches off to the east from the Záluží–Osek road. This connects the historical reference with a specific landmark, while the course of the stream offers another way to describe the town.
Sporting traditions in the town
The sports complex of Tělovýchovná jednota Záluží is in the town centre and is open to the public. Check its specific accessibility before your visit. Traditional nohejbal tournaments are held at the sports complex. The three-player nohejbal tournament reached its 50th edition in 2026; two sand courts were planned for the tournament.
Another tradition is the Pohár vítězů, an annual competition in fire sport for youth and veterans’ teams. Its tradition dates back to 2000. The two sporting events thus differ in their time reference: for the nohejbal tournament, the 50th edition in 2026 is a notable milestone; for the Pohár vítězů, its annual recurrence and the stated participant groups are part of the competition’s description.
Practical information
Záluží has a COOP shop at Záluží 45. You can pay there using electronic food vouchers and at a payment terminal. The shop is therefore a specific place to stop for shopping in town.
The three bus stops are called u Kovárny, V Brance and u Transformátoru. A historical timetable lists a last departure to Hořovice at 19:30. Do not rely on this time as a current timetable; check the current service before travelling.
