Sýkořice can be explored through its trails, landscapes and historical landmarks. The western and southwestern boundary of the cadastral area is formed by the Berounka. Several specific destinations can help you find your way: the Pěnčina viewpoint, the U hájovny Kaly (Běleč) trail junction and the Jinčov ruins. There is also the Kabečnice Nature Reserve, a Baroque roadside chapel and a war memorial. This gives you a choice of different travel interests: hiking routes, protected nature or history.

Hiking Trails and Destinations

The Pěnčina viewpoint lies within the cadastral area of Sýkořice. A forest path leads directly to it from Sýkořice after you leave the yellow-marked hiking trail. When finding your way, look for the point where the yellow-marked trail gives way to the forest path. A yellow-marked hiking trail runs from Zbečno through the northwestern part of Sýkořice to the U hájovny Kaly (Běleč) trail junction; this trail is part of the Říp–Blaník pilgrimage route. Two hiking trails to the Jinčov ruins also pass through Sýkořice. Each route has a different destination: Pěnčina is a viewpoint, U hájovny Kaly is the junction at the end of the yellow-marked section, and Jinčov is a set of ruins. This distinction helps you choose a hike based on its specific destination.

Nature Above the Berounka Valley

The Kabečnice Nature Reserve adds a distinct natural attraction to the hiking destinations. Species-rich, warmth-loving flora grows on the steep rocks and slopes above the Berounka Valley. This includes the small-flowered orchid, a critically endangered plant. If protected nature is a particular interest when planning your trip, Kabečnice offers a specific focus; Pěnčina, by contrast, is a viewpoint connected to a trail from Sýkořice. The flora and terrain, on the one hand, and a named hiking destination, on the other, offer different themes to choose from.

Chapel, Memorial and Architectural History

The Výklenková kaplička sv. Jana Nepomuckého in Sýkořice is a Baroque roadside chapel. Its niche contains a rusticized Baroque stone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. Baroque design shapes both the building and the figure, while the rusticized stone gives the overall design a distinctive accent. The war memorial commemorates those who fell in the First World War and was made from stones from a former quarry behind Skalka. These landmarks have different details to focus on: the chapel’s design, and the memorial’s material origins and remembrance of the war.

The Dřevíč hunting lodge in the Křivoklátské Forests takes you further back into architectural history. It was originally a forester’s lodge dating from 1572; it was later converted into a small, two-storey Baroque hunting lodge belonging to the Fürstenbergs. The transformation from forester’s lodge to hunting lodge makes the different construction phases easy to follow. Dřevíč is privately owned and not open to the public. Check access arrangements again before your trip.

Břetislavův dub is a protected individual tree. It was first placed under protection on 10 July 2000. The date is a specific historical reference point for the tree’s protected status.
