You can explore Příčovy during a stay through two distinctive buildings and a range of routes. The windmill ruin combines a former technical use with a striking architectural form, while the castle is distinguished by its mansard roof. When planning, consider the windmill grounds, castle building and castle chapel separately: access to each is governed differently. This lets you take the respective conditions into account from the outset when planning a visit or activity.

The Příčovy Windmill

The ruin of the Příčovy Windmill stands on Chlumky Hill, at an elevation of 400 m, west of Příčovy. The massive circular structure has a diameter of 14 m and looks down on the village from the hill. A Dutch-style windmill, it once ground flour; today it is a ruin and a unique technical monument of its kind in Czechia. The combination of its former function and architectural form makes it a specific point of interest for travellers interested in the history of technology. The windmill grounds are freely accessible in summer and winter.

The Castle and Chapel

Příčovy Castle is a one-storey building with a double mansard roof. Its description brings together two architectural features: the number of storeys and the roof shape. Access is also important when planning a visit: the castle is normally not open to the public. A visit to the castle building should therefore not be treated as a guaranteed part of your itinerary.

The castle chapel is separate from the castle building. The 2021–2035 strategic plan lists visits during Mass at the Příčovy pilgrimage festival: 14 days after Easter, on Saturdays from 3 p.m. The plan also lists visits during Advent concerts, held every Advent Saturday from 4 p.m. As the schedule may change, check whether the event is taking place before you visit.

Cycling Route and Hiking Trail

Route information differs according to the means of travel and the destinations named. The May 2017 land-use plan lists marked cycling route 8133 as an existing route between Sedlčany and Chramosty; it passes through Příčovy and is to be retained. Check current route conditions before setting out. According to the same plan, the yellow-marked hiking trail from Příčovy to Kňovičky uses existing local and service roads. Thus, the cycling connection between the two named places and the hiking route starting in Příčovy have different destinations. Compare them according to your preferred means of travel and destination.

If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Příčovy, the visiting conditions and route options may affect your plans.
