If you are looking for a hotel in Tved, you can plan your trip around the things that interest you: hiking, cycling, nature watching or cultural history. Tved Klitplantage has three marked hiking routes; Tved Church was built in the 12th century. This gives you outdoor activities and a historic site as different starting points. First consider whether a route, a type of landscape, wildlife or architectural history should shape your stay.

Hiking and Cycling

Tved Klitplantage has three marked hiking routes. Savbjergruten passes through the northernmost part of the plantation along the edge of Hanstholm Wildlife Reserve and can be extended by about 1 km to an observation platform in the northern part of the reserve. You can factor this approximate additional distance into your plans separately from the rest of the route. The local cycling route Reservatruten also passes through the plantation. The two named options therefore differ mainly by activity: Savbjergruten is the hiking option, with a possible extension to the platform, while Reservatruten is the cycling route. If you first decide whether you want to travel on foot or by bike, this distinction is a useful starting point.

Landscape and Wildlife

Tved Klitplantage and the surrounding areas are protected. Together with Hanstholm Wildlife Reserve and the dune plantations to the south, they form part of a natural area. Langsande is the largest parabolic dune in Tved Klitplantage. An observation tower stands in the northern part of the plantation, where you can look out for red deer in the reserve; there are 500 red deer in the reserve. These offer different nature-related interests to choose from: Langsande represents the dune landscape, while the observation tower focuses on the possibility of wildlife watching.

Church and Cultural History

Tved Church was built in the 12th century. It is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., except on public holidays and during services; check the opening hours before your visit. Two Bronze Age burial mounds can be seen at Ravnshøje in the southern part of Tved Klitplantage. The church and the burial mounds represent different historical periods: the church building dates from the 12th century, while the visible mounds belong to the Bronze Age. This makes it possible to combine a medieval building with visible archaeological traces when planning a cultural history trip.

Practical Information

The path from the car park at SĂĄrup to the observation platform at SĂĄrup is wheelchair accessible. Peter Odgaards Plads also has a basic overnight site with a shelter, fire pit, toilet and water.

You can take different conditions into account when planning your day: the church opening hours are an important point of reference, while for the hike you can decide whether to include the roughly 1 km extension of Savbjergruten to the observation platform. This gives you two separate planning considerations: a time window for your visit and an additional route option.
