Glyngøre lies on a headland surrounded by woodland and beach, almost in the middle of the Limfjord. When planning a stay, you can take in both the coastal landscape and the local trails and culture. The beach, summer activities on the fjord, the former Salling Railway and its present-day use as a walking and cycling trail offer different ways to explore the area on your trip.

Beach and shoreline

Glyngøre Beach has held the Blue Flag designation since 1992. The beach is shallow and family-friendly. The distance from the shore to a water depth of two metres is about 130 to 200 metres. For families who consider the shoreline conditions when choosing a destination, this combination offers a useful point of reference.

The beach can be accessed from the harbour or via Durupvej; there are parking spaces at both entrances. Between the beach and harbour, you can use a sauna with a sea view in the “Saltkassen” building. As conditions of use may change, check them locally before your visit.

Harbour and activities on the Limfjord

The Glyngøre Water Park is set up every year from early June to the end of August on the north side of the harbour, about 50 metres offshore. Check the dates for the current season before your visit. The facility includes, among other things, a slide, an inflatable jumping pillow, a trampoline, a climbing wall and balance equipment.

In summer, the fjord at Glyngøre is used for sailing, kayaking and surfing. From the harbour, you can also reach numerous larger and smaller harbours on the Limfjord on a day trip. This gives you a choice between water activities on the fjord and an excursion to other harbours.

Walking and cycling routes

The Salling Nature Trail is now a combined walking and cycling path on the former Salling Railway. The 29-kilometre route follows the former railway line from Skive to Glyngøre. The section from Glyngøre to Durup is designed as the Planet Trail. The stated length and endpoints refer to the route between Skive and Glyngøre; Planet Trail describes the design of the section to Durup.

A marked walking route leads from the beach area at Glyngøre Beach through Halkhoved Plantation. Glyngøre is also characterised by varied natural surroundings and numerous walking and cycling routes. When choosing how to get around, it is helpful to distinguish between them: the Nature Trail is designed as a combined cycling and walking path, while the route through the plantation is specifically marked as a walking route.

Local history at the Culture Station

The Glyngøre Culture Station opened in 1990 in a former railway station building and features exhibitions on the history of the surrounding area. The permanent exhibition is devoted to the Salling Railway, photographic equipment and fishing. In Glyngøre, the Salling Railway can therefore be encountered in two different contexts: as the former railway line now followed by the Nature Trail, and as a subject of the exhibition at the Culture Station.
