Bork Havn: Harbor, water sports and Viking themes
Accommodation in Bork Havn
Bork Havn is located in the southern part of Ringkøbing Fjord. The harbor, surf spot and several leisure activities give the town a variety of focal points: maritime activities, water sports, Viking themes and an annual festival. When choosing where to stay, you can first consider which of these aspects is most interesting for your trip.
Harbor and water sports
Bork Havn’s harbor includes a marina, a fishing harbor and a houseboat harbor. The three types of harbor give the town a range of maritime focal points. If you are interested in the different uses of a harbor, you will find more than one category here: the marina, fishing harbor and houseboat harbor each form part of the overall picture of Bork Havn.
At the Bork Havn surf spot, conditions depend on the area of the bay. The inner part is very shallow and best suited to kitesurfing; the rest of the large area is also excellent for windsurfing. This geographical distinction is useful when comparing the two sports: kitesurfing is associated with the shallow inner area, and windsurfing with the rest of the large area.
Westwind Surf Bork offers windsurfing, kitesurfing, SUP (stand-up paddleboarding), catamaran sailing and kayaking. Equipment, clothing and wetsuits are also available to rent and buy. Activity availability may vary by season. If a particular sport is important to your plans, check what is offered for your chosen dates.
Viking experiences and leisure activities
At Bork Vikingehavn, visitors encounter people dressed in Viking clothing and occupied with crafts and household chores. Everyday activities are therefore part of the portrayal, as is the clothing. This sets the scene apart from a single hands-on activity: the focus is on people at work.
Activities at Bork Vikingehavn include rune-making and leatherwork. Visitors can write their own name in runes on a piece of leather and have it made into a bracelet. They can also make their own leather pouch, as the Vikings did. The two activities produce different results: a bracelet with their own name or a handmade pouch. Activity availability may depend on the museum season.
Bork Havn Vikingegolf is a Viking-themed mini-golf course. It has twelve holes in total, each with two difficulty levels. Both levels apply to every hole, not just as a general rating for the course. Bork Havn Vikingegolf is a self-service mini-golf course; operational details may change. Check them before visiting.
Bork Legeland has slides, climbing walls, trampolines and ball pits. Unlike mini-golf, with its twelve holes, the focus here is on a selection of different play equipment. The leisure activities therefore take different forms: a themed mini-golf course on the one hand, and several types of play equipment on the other.
The Bork Festival
The Bork Festival is an annual tradition in Bork Havn. The festival features more than 50 concerts over four days; the number of concerts and the duration may vary from one edition to another. If the festival is a deciding factor for your trip, check the dates and program for the specific edition in advance. This lets you plan around the festival year in question.
