Bøvlingbjerg – Trails, Wetland and Nature
Accommodation in Bøvlingbjerg
Bøvlingbjerg is located in Nissum Fjord Nature Park and Geopark Vestjylland. Several themes can guide your planning: three marked trails, the Generationernes Plads recreation area, a recreational wetland and opportunities for fishing. These places and activities offer different experiences. Which ones you include depends on whether you are looking for a trail, an area with a variety of facilities or a specific activity.
Hiking Trails by Length
The trails near Bøvlingbjerg are marked by color: the yellow trail is about 4.7 kilometers long, the white one about 2.5 kilometers and the green one around 3.7 kilometers. The white trail is therefore the shortest, and the yellow the longest of the stated routes; the green one falls in between. The distances are approximate, and both trail lengths and markings may change.
The white trail has specific landscape features in addition to its length. It passes through open countryside, follows windbreak hedges, goes by the Fåre Mølleå and crosses a small wooded area. The combination of open countryside, hedges, the stretch by the Fåre Mølleå and a small wooded area gives the route a different character than its length alone suggests.
All the trails are open to walkers, but not to cyclists. They may be temporarily closed because of hunting. Check access conditions before setting out so you can account for any closures.
Generationernes Plads and the Wetland
Generationernes Plads brings together a range of facilities: the skate track known as “Mælkevejen” is complemented by skate ramps and a parkour area. There is also a carousel, basketball hoops, a ball wall and a jumping pillow, as well as chess, pétanque, a sandbox, a fire pit and a dog run. The area combines opportunities for exercise and ball games with quieter play options. The facilities may change over time.
A gravel path leads from Generationernes Plads to a recreational wetland modeled on Nissum Fjord. In dry conditions, you can walk there and in the surrounding landscape, and ride a mountain bike. This use depends on dry conditions, so take current conditions into account when planning.
This distinction is important for cycling: the color-marked trails are not open to cyclists, while mountain biking is possible at the wetland and in the surrounding landscape in dry conditions.
Fishing and Nature Campsite
Bøvling Put and Take is on the outskirts of Bøvlingbjerg, near the Fåre Mølleå. The facility has two fishing lakes with a total water surface of about 5,500 square meters. Fishing is therefore a separate option alongside the trails and the wetland. Check the operating details separately before planning around it.
Gåsereden is a shelter and nature campsite. As facilities and booking arrangements may change, check these details before your visit.
