Kibæk: Culture, Art and Green Trails
Accommodation in Kibæk
If you’re looking for a hotel in Kibæk, you can plan your trip around specific interests. Cultural venues, green spaces and trails shape the character of Kibæk. Deep Forest Art Land is a distinctive highlight, bringing contemporary art, nature and people together. The places and routes below offer different ways to make the most of your stay.
Art and culture
Deep Forest Art Land brings contemporary art, nature and people together. Its artistic programme may change. A circular trail of about 4.5 kilometres leads back to the starting point and can be divided into two sections. This makes it different from a route connecting two places: you can explore the whole trail or focus on one of its two sections.
Alhuset cultural centre is located in Kibæk. Its programme includes singing, music, dance, games, creative workshops, talks, meetings and communal meals. Alongside performances, the centre’s activities also include doing things together and meeting others.
Kibæk Mølle is on the edge of Kibæk and is one of the town’s cultural centres. A green natural area with lakes and trails connects the Mølle with Kibæk Krydsfelt and the recreational areas in the green heart of Kibæk. The Vonå runs through the town in a green corridor and, together with Harreskov Plantage, forms one of Kibæk’s recreational areas. The cultural venue and green spaces are connected geographically.
Forest, heath and trails
Hede ved Kibæk covers 66 hectares of forest and heath. The area is managed year-round through extensive cattle grazing. You may enter the entire enclosed heath, including the private section. Please observe the access conditions on site.
The Kibæk-Momhøje Trail connects Kibæk with Momhøje. This gravel path runs through the western part of Følpøt Skov. As part of the trail, 400 metres of new path were created. The route and its course may be adjusted; check the current route before your walk.
The yellow Kibæk Syd route can be started at several points and extended into the wider trail network in and around Kibæk. It is distinct from the yellow Kibæk–Momhøje route, which runs between Kibæk Mølle and the Momhøje Nature Centre and can be extended into the nature centre’s trail network. One route offers several possible starting points, while the other connects two named destinations. This also means you can plan your walk in different ways, depending on which route you choose.
Near the Momhøje Nature Centre, a 1.3-kilometre accessible path passes through heath and forest areas and by Opalsøen, a remnant of a former lignite open-pit mine. This path adds a specific circular walk through a distinctive landscape to the local trails.
