Klemensker: Church, Præstemosen and regional specialties
Accommodation in Klemensker
Klemensker can be explored through its distinctive places and varied themes: the Klemenskerstien circles the village, the large St. Clemens Church stands at its centre, and at Præstemosen, a lake, wooden bridge and shelter come together. Bornholms Andelsmejeri adds Bornholm specialties and a specific step in cheese-making to these impressions. This lets you consider Klemensker as a travel destination through its village character, water and regional produce.
Routes around the village and to Klemensker
The Klemenskerstien goes all the way around Klemensker and is not marked. Bear in mind that the route is unmarked when planning the circular walk. Regional Route 23 reaches Klemensker from Nyker. The descriptions therefore differ both in route and starting point: one is the path around the village, while the other is the route from Nyker to Klemensker.
St. Clemens Church and art inside the church
The large St. Clemens Church stands in the centre of Klemensker and is visible from far away. Inside the church is a mosaic by Paul Høm, which he gave to Sct. Clemens Kirke. It hangs above the chancel arch and depicts a pierced lamb with a victory banner and chalice. Høm also chose the colours for the church interior. On the pulpit, dating from 1882, he decorated the panels with figures of the four evangelists and vine tendrils. The mosaic and the pulpit thus represent two distinct details of the artistic design.
Præstemosen by the water
Præstemosen is in Klemensker, near Klemens Church. By the lake are a shelter and a wooden bridge that extends out over the water. The bridge provides access close to the water, while the area around the shelter offers a place to pause outdoors. These are two different options for planning your visit: you can focus your stay on a walk to the water or make a break at the shelter the main event.
Bornholms Andelsmejeri and regional produce
Bornholms Andelsmejeri invites you to sample Bornholm specialties. Blue cheese is also still turned by hand at the dairy. The two aspects offer different points of interest: the tasting focuses on flavour, while the hand-turning focuses on production. If you plan to include a tasting, check the current opening times before your visit.
Bornholm in the wider travel itinerary
Bornholm can be reached by ferry, plane, bus or train. The ferry crossing from Ystad to Bornholm takes one hour and 20 minutes. Check current schedules and connections before travelling. This lets you plan your journey to Bornholm separately from choosing local routes in Klemensker.
Bornholm is also home to the NaturBornholm experience centre, with dinosaurs, live crocodiles, an aquarium and a bison exhibition. Bornholms Middelaldercenter is a 15-hectare open-air museum that presents 14th-century Bornholm in an engaging, interactive way. Their focuses differ: NaturBornholm brings together a range of nature and animal exhibits, while Middelaldercenter presents medieval Bornholm. NaturBornholm’s exhibits may change; check the current offerings before visiting.
