Suhopolje between the Castle Park and Tradition
Accommodation in Suhopolje
The castle park at Dvorac Janković, churches in Suhopolje and Cabuna, and seasonal events bring different cultural touches to a stay. Regional produce and nature watching are also among the themes that shape a visit to Općina Suhopolje.
Castle Park and the History of Dvorac Janković
The park around Dvorac Janković covers 7.99 hectares and is protected as a garden architecture monument. The manor complex itself was built in 1775 as a large Late Baroque complex. The park and castle thus represent two related aspects of the area: the design of a historic garden and the architectural history of a manor complex.
The park is very easy to reach from the D2 highway. Tourist signs, information boards and municipal amenities are available there. These orientation details may change, so it is a good idea to check the latest information before your visit. The Dvorac Janković Visitor Centre presents the history of Suhopolje and the Janković family.
Churches and Notable Features
The Crkva sv. Terezije Avilske in Suhopolje has been a protected cultural monument since 1969 and is an example of Neoclassical architecture. Its furnishings include six wooden, Neoclassical-style candlesticks, which are considered rare in Croatia. The crypt is also part of the church’s recorded history: it contains the sarcophagi of its builder, Ivan Nepomuk Jankovich, his wife Terezija and their son.
Another architectural history can be found in Cabuna: the Crkva Kraljice sv. Krunice was built in 1906 and consecrated in June 1907. It was originally dedicated to Saint Clotilde. These dates give the church its own historical context and complement the Neoclassical features of the Crkva sv. Terezije Avilske with a consecration story from the early 20th century.
Events Throughout the Year

The two events have clearly different timings: BUB is scheduled for September, while the flower procession takes place in June and ends in the park in Suhopolje. Check the specific event date if you plan to attend.

Dani oraha is a food festival held in September, with stalls offering traditional walnut specialties, music and a competition for the best-decorated stall. The two events offer different culinary experiences: one focuses on cooking and tasting together, the other on walnut products and stall design.
