Pršurići offers two distinct starting points for planning your trip: Misal sparkling wine and trails for walking or cycling. If you’re looking for accommodation, consider whether your planned visit to the wine producer or activities in the surrounding area will shape your stay more. Each has different requirements: visits to Misal must be booked in advance; the nearby Sovina staza is a separate hiking option.

Misal: Wine-growing history and planning your visit

All visits to the Misal sparkling wine producer in Pršurići must be booked in advance. Visits are offered on weekday mornings and on Saturdays by arrangement. The producer is closed on Sundays and public holidays. The tasting room can accommodate 25 to 30 people; confirm this figure when planning, as it may change.

The Peršurić family has been involved in winegrowing for more than five centuries. Đordano Peršurić, who founded Misal’s sparkling wine production, returned to Pršurići and began making still wines with his father. The producer’s vineyards are also in Pršurići: they sit at an altitude of 230 metres, cover five hectares, and grow on red soil.

Misal’s sparkling wines traditionally mature in the bottle. The local grape varieties used include Malvasia and Teran. Together with the family’s long history and details about the vineyards, these facts offer an insight into winegrowing and production. If you’d like to visit the cellar, book your visit in advance and check the current arrangements.

Hiking and cycling

The Sovina staza, a 7.7-kilometre circular hiking trail for families, runs near Pršurići. Two viewpoints offer views in the direction of the sea and Ćićarija. Views and vegetation may vary by season; check local trail conditions before setting out. The route and its viewpoints offer a different way to experience the area on foot than a visit to the wine producer.

Pršurići is also connected to the Parenzana: a passage under the road in the village is part of the Parenzana walking and cycling route. Since 2002, the route in the Općina Višnjan has been signposted for cyclists and pedestrians. Check the signs and route conditions before setting out locally. The Vrsar–Višnjan–Parenzana–Poreč–Funtana–Vrsar cycling loop recommends the Misal sparkling wine cellar as a stop in Pršurići. After Višnjan, the loop joins the Parenzana cycling trail towards Poreč.

More places to visit in the Općina Višnjan

Pršurići is part of the Općina Višnjan. The wider travel area also offers historical heritage, food and drink from local producers, and opportunities for stargazing. Group visits to the Višnjan Observatory are available year-round by prior arrangement. The group programme includes an introductory talk on a scientific or astronomical topic, a guided tour of the observatory, the telescope dome, and the Stone Circle. If weather conditions are suitable, an outdoor telescope observation is also included.

The Višnjan Observatory is a public observatory registered in 1992. Its scientific focus is on small bodies in the Solar System and their interactions with Earth. Group visits combine an insight into the observatory’s work with a visit to the areas mentioned; outdoor observation remains dependent on suitable weather conditions.

For a hike in the wider travel area, the Venetian Lion Trail offers a different option from the Sovina staza. The 4.5-kilometre trail takes about two and a half hours. It passes through historic Višnjan, from Antun Korlević Square beneath the arch with the Venetian lion to the old village of Barat and back. The Owl Trail is 7.7 kilometres long, marked, and suitable for family hikes. It starts in a pine grove near the Višnjan cemetery and leads to the Vena viewpoint, which overlooks olive groves, vineyards, and the sea. While the Sovina staza includes two viewpoints with views towards the sea and Ćićarija, Vena is the named viewpoint on the Owl Trail.

Historical heritage in the Općina Višnjan

Churches in other settlements in the Općina Višnjan also offer a starting point for a cultural and historical outing. In Cerion, the small Church of St Matthew was built in 1588; its façade, with a bell gable and two bells, was renovated in 1935. In Bačva, the Church of St James dates from 1628. It was built on the site of an earlier church. These examples are in the wider municipal area and complement the wine and trail themes you can include in your travel plans around Pršurići.
