Discover Zastolje
Accommodation in Zastolje
A specific point of interest in Zastolje is the Brajković family farm. Visitors can enjoy a rural experience in the farm’s cellar, with local Konavle dishes, regional wines, olive oil, and other products. If you plan to visit the farm, confirm the individual arrangements in advance, as they may change.
The local history is also connected with the nobility of Konavle: Boget Rugić and other nobles from Zastolje took part in an uprising by the nobility of Konavle.
Exploring the inland area

Culture and history in Općina Konavle
Fort Sokol is an important fortress dating from the Republic of Ragusa and was built on the site of earlier Illyrian and Roman fortifications. In Močići, there is a sanctuary dedicated to the ancient god Mithras; his cult was widespread in the region from the 2nd to the 4th century. The Franciscan monastery and Church of St. Blaise in Pridvorje were built from 1423 to 1429 in the style of the early Dubrovnik Renaissance. The site was a place of pilgrimage and housed a significant collection of sacred art.
The mill complex on the Ljuta River includes eight watermills for flour, two for oil, and three fulling mills. The system of so-called lower mills, built after 1550, has been preserved. The source and upper reaches of the Ljuta are protected by the state as a nature park; the watermill is protected as a cultural monument. The Museum of the Konavle Region in Čilipi houses around 500 ethnographic objects, including traditional costumes, embroidery, textile work, jewellery, weapons, musical instruments, and everyday items. These examples illustrate different aspects of the region’s heritage—from historic architecture and religious sites to mills, nature conservation, and everyday culture.
