In Warth, trip-planning options range from hiking trails and via ferratas to skiing and local history. The routes differ considerably: some describe a path to a destination, while others are circular routes or provide access to a via ferrata starting point. Taking a closer look at the details is also worthwhile when deciding what to focus on.

Hiking Trails in and around Warth

The Lechweg runs from the Grenztobel between Lech and Warth uphill through the Höhenwald forest to the Walser village of Warth. The Warth village trail, by contrast, starts in the town center and passes historic buildings and scenic viewpoints. If you are looking for a trail with a described destination in the Walser village, the Lechweg is a useful guide; the village trail focuses on the town center, historic buildings and viewpoints.

The Waldrundweg is described as a winter hike. It starts at the village square, passes Seebachsee, Höhiwald and the hamlet of Teschenberg, then returns to the center of Warth. Unlike the uphill Lechweg, this route includes a return to the starting point. The named places along the way give you a specific sequence to help with your planning.

Via Ferratas and Mountain Tours

The Schrofenwies climbing garden can be reached from the Lechleiten car park by walking east for about one minute. The Murmele via ferrata is located there, in Warth-Lechleiten. It is a practice via ferrata for small children and for those trying via ferrata climbing for the first time. This makes it a specific option for families with small children, while the other mountain tours involve different requirements and time estimates.

The Steffisalp-Express takes visitors up to 1,884 metres, where a popular starting point for numerous mountain activities is located. From the Steffisalp-Express mountain station, it takes about 45 minutes on foot to reach the start of the Karhorn via ferrata. This time estimate covers the walk to the start. The tour along the east ridge to the summit of the Karhorn is a separate route: it takes about two and a half hours, including the approach, and covers 550 metres of elevation gain. This distinction is useful for planning your time because the two estimates describe different sections.

Skiing and Winter Activities

In winter, Warth offers direct access to the ski area, with village ski runs leading practically to the front doors. The ski area's development can be traced through two milestones: in the 2013/14 winter season, the Auenfeldjet connected the Warth-Schröcken and Lech Zürs ski areas. Since the 2016/17 winter season, all the places mentioned along the Arlberg route—from Warth-Schröcken via Lech Zürs, Stuben and St. Christoph to St. Anton—have been accessible on skis.

Another option is the guided “Pfarrer Müller” ski tour from Warth to Lech Zürs am Arlberg. It commemorates a former ski pioneer. Before your trip, check whether the tour is offered during your travel dates.

Walserhus, Ski Museum and World Peace Cross

Walserhus dates back to the 15th century and is the oldest building in Warth. You can only view it from the outside; entry is not possible. The Warth Ski Museum offers a different perspective on the history of skiing: the small, lovingly furnished barn provides insights into the early days of skiing in Warth. A historic building and the early development of skiing thus offer two distinct topics to explore.

The World Peace Cross on the Simmel is a place for reflection and contemplation. Visitors can reflect on the universal values of peace there. Together with the trails, via ferratas and skiing opportunities, it offers a range of options to suit different interests and help you plan your trip to Warth.
