Nebelberg between cycling routes, winter trails and local history
Accommodation in Nebelberg
Nebelberg combines a cross-border family cycling tour with seasonal cross-country skiing and cultural history. The Nebelberg circular trail passes through farmland and woodland in the border area with Germany. When planning your trip, you can focus on cycling, winter activities, the landscape or local history.
Cycling route and landscape
The family cycling tour starts in Vordernebelberg at the Ramlhof inn and follows a cross-border cycling route into Germany. It runs along quiet side roads and has few climbs. It is considered ideal for families with younger children. Check local conditions along the cycling route before setting off. Local history and tradition
In Heinrichsberg, the Laußn Chapel was built at the place where the body of Johann Ameseder, who died in 1871, was found. Renovation was completed with the chapel’s consecration on 18 August 2023. The chapel is therefore notable both for its origins and for this clearly dated, more recent chapter in its history.
Nebelberg was first mentioned in a document in 1296. An early trade route (Schiffl, Schopper) ran through the municipality from the Danube to the Vltava.
In Heinrichsberg and Stift am Grenzbach, it is still customary to pass on messages for certain occasions using the Haptstecken. The staff is passed from person to person around the village. The area’s cultural history therefore includes both historic buildings and trade as well as a local tradition that continues to this day.
Cross-country skiing and getting here
The Kollerschlag-Nebelberg network offers four cross-country ski routes. The municipal office in Nebelberg and the Jagawirt inn in Stift am Grenzbach are listed as starting points for the standard trail. As this is a seasonal winter activity, check locally which access point is currently open.
The nearest train station is Oepping, 10 km from Nebelberg. If you are travelling by train, check current connections separately.
Plan your horse-riding activities
At Ramlhof, a thorough and calm lunge-training course introduces beginners to horse riding over five sessions. The riding activities also include riding in the indoor arena or on the sand arena, as well as trail rides. At Silberdistelhof, horses are used for both riding lessons and trail rides. If you are planning riding activities, confirm current booking arrangements before your trip.
