Sankt Ulrich Am Pillersee
Accommodation in Sankt Ulrich Am Pillersee
For a stay in Sankt Ulrich am Pillersee, easy hikes, Lake Pillersee and historic buildings offer concrete starting points for planning your days. Approximate walking times help you estimate how much time to allow for hiking routes; in winter, cross-country ski trails become a focus in their own right. Local history can also be traced through named buildings, a fountain and the production of mountain pine oil.
Plan Hikes by Time

According to the estimated times, the village walk takes about half an hour less; the length of the route is another useful planning consideration for the Pillersee circuit. Trail conditions may vary. You can get the Pillersee circuit rating stamp at the St. Ulrich am Pillersee Tourist Information Office.
Cross-Country Ski Trails in Winter
In the colder months, there are several access points in Sankt Ulrich to the Pillersee Valley cross-country ski network, which is more than 100 km long. The local Au trail is about 6 km long and is groomed daily in winter; it is suitable for beginners as well as ambitious cross-country skiers. The individual trail and the network of more than 100 km represent different scales of planning: a specific route and a regional network with several access points. As grooming and trail availability are seasonal, check local conditions before your visit.
Lake Pillersee and the Grieselbach
Pedal boats can be rented on Lake Pillersee from the Seerestaurant Blattl and the Forellenranch. As availability may vary by season, it is best to check in advance whether rentals are possible on the date of your visit. Stand-up paddleboarding is offered directly on the lake as a family activity. The Grieselbach offers a different connection to the landscape: it rises at Hochsäul in the municipality of Sankt Ulrich, at an elevation of 1,757 m. Its banks in the idyllic, rugged Grieseltal valley below the Loferer Steinberge invite you to linger and play by the mountain stream.
Churches, Craftsmanship and Village History
The parish church once belonged to Rott am Inn Abbey and is named after Saint Ulrich, Bishop of Augsburg. Its Gothic choir, frescoes by Simon Benedikt Faistenberger and Romanesque architectural elements in the tower bring together different artistic and architectural features. The little church of Adolari has the most significant Gothic Marian cycle in North Tyrol. The parish church thus brings together several architectural and artistic features, while the Marian cycle is the defining art-historical feature of Adolari.
Mountain pine oil production began in Sankt Ulrich am Pillersee in 1906; the Mack mountain pine oil distillery is the oldest in the world. In the village center, the village fountain was built in 1993 by Wildschönau artist Hubert Flörl as part of the redesign of the village square. Churches, a craft tradition and the fountain offer different points of connection to local history.
