Discover Neustift in the Stubai Valley
Accommodation in Neustift in the Stubai Valley
Neustift in the Stubai Valley offers a variety of travel experiences: seasonal mountain activities on the Stubai Glacier, trails and climbing opportunities on the Elfer, and cultural history at the Forsterhaus in Kampl. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, you can start by choosing your dates based on your main interests. Skiing, hiking and climbing, as well as insights into farming and regional furnishings, appeal to different interests.
Plan glacier experiences by season
The Stubai Glacier is open about ten months of the year. Activities take place during different periods: skiing is possible there from mid-October to May; from July to mid-September, the glacier is a destination for families, hikers and via ferrata enthusiasts. Skiing and summer hiking or via ferrata days therefore fall in separate time windows. Choose your dates according to which of these activities is the main focus of your trip.
During the full summer operating period in 2026, from July 4 to September 6, it was possible to take the lift to the TOP OF TYROL viewing platform at 3,210 m. If you are planning for a later season, check the operating hours in effect at that time. At Eisgrat, a playground adds to the summer experience for children; its operating period may vary by season.
Hiking trails, climbing and trail running
The Elfer area and the Pinnistal valley offer both short hiking routes for families and extended high-altitude hikes. The selection ranges from shorter walks to longer excursions in the high mountains. There are also several via ferratas and climbing routes on the Elfer, with easily accessible starting points. The natural EinsEinser Trail on the Elfer is 4 km long.
The riverside trail offers a different focus: it starts either at the Neustift Leisure Centre or by the Elfer lifts and follows the Ruetz towards Milders or Kampler See. When planning, you can therefore choose your route based on your preferred starting point or direction. The route runs alongside the river and adds another option to the trails on the Elfer and in the Pinnistal valley.
The Milderer Almentrail is a trail run across four alpine pastures, featuring the Hühnerspiel and Kartnall nature attractions. An initial section was part of the 2023 Mountain and Trail Running World Championships in Innsbruck-Stubai. There is a direct bus connection for the Milderer Almentrail from Innsbruck Central Station to the Neustift Freizeitzentrum stop. Bus route 590 connects Neustift with Innsbruck. Check the timetable before travelling if you plan to use the bus for your journey.
The Forsterhaus and rural culture
The Forsterhaus in Kampl is documented in records dating back to 1667. The Forsterhaus local history museum focuses on farming tools, traditional trades such as shoemaking, tailoring and weaving, and furnishings typical of the valley. This gives the museum a specific focus on working and domestic life. The documented reference dating back to 1667 and the museum’s themes highlight different aspects: the historic house on the one hand, and farming activities and regional furnishings on the other. For travellers who would like to include culture in their plans alongside mountain activities, the Forsterhaus offers a distinct thematic focus.
