Markt Hartmannsdorf: Local History and Active Experiences
Accommodation in Markt Hartmannsdorf
Markt Hartmannsdorf combines a distinctive local history with opportunities for active outings and regional experiences. If you’re looking for a hotel for your stay, you can focus on architecture and culture, cycling and hiking tours, or sports and leisure facilities.
Local History and Literature
The parish church is a distinctive landmark. Its tower is 36 meters high and leans by 0.72 meters; it has become a symbol of the town. Since it was first mentioned in 1232, the parish church has been the center of the Hartmannsdorf settlement. In 1860, the masonry Ulrichsbrunn Chapel replaced a wooden chapel; it has been restored several times over the years. In the center of Markt Hartmannsdorf is the Peter Simonischek Literature Fountain. Children, teenagers, and adults can toss their own works into the fountain, where a jury awards prizes.
Cycling, Hiking and Sports
A hiking trail of around 13 kilometers leads from Ulrichsbrunn Chapel around Markt Hartmannsdorf. The Rittscheintal Cycle Route R21 is 42.3 kilometers long and rated as moderately difficult. It passes through the Rittschein Valley to Markt Hartmannsdorf, then continues from there along a cycle path running parallel to the regional road to St. Kind. The routes therefore differ in mode of travel and length, and R21 also has a specified difficulty rating.
For other sporting activities, Markt Hartmannsdorf’s modern sports center has a soccer field, an athletics facility, and tennis courts. The Markt Hartmannsdorf fitness trail in the Marwald offers wooden exercise equipment for strength and endurance training in a woodland setting. The Markt Hartmannsdorf outdoor adventure pool has a swimming pool and an activity pool with a climbing net and island, as well as a water slide. There are also beach volleyball and table tennis courts, a shady sand playground, and a paddling pool. The options therefore vary by setting and activity: field sports at the sports center, strength and endurance exercises in the Marwald, and pools and a slide at the outdoor pool.
