Neusetz: Discover Culture and Wine Country
Accommodation in Neusetz
Neusetz offers two specific starting points for planning your stay: sacred culture and the wine-growing landscape. There are also various experiences at Genussgut Krispel, each with a different format. First, consider whether you would like to focus your stay on a sacred site, the Wine Road or a particular tour. These options raise different questions: about cultural significance, finding your way along the road, or the stops and itinerary of a culinary experience.
Sacred Culture and the Wine Road
The chapel in Neusetz is the Herz-Jesu Chapel and one of the village’s attractions. This provides a specific point of reference for sacred culture, rather than speaking about culture in general. If sacred sites are part of your travel plans, you can consider the chapel as a focus in its own right, alongside the Wine Road and the culinary offerings. This helps clarify in advance what matters most for your stay.
The Südoststeirische Hügelland Wine Road is lined with vineyards in Neusetz and Hof. It runs west along the L 256 into the “Rosenberg” wine region. This gives you two different points of reference: the vineyards place the road in the landscape of Neusetz and Hof, while the westward direction and the Rosenberg wine region indicate its route. There is also a clear limitation to bear in mind when planning your trip: the Wine Road cannot be travelled by public transport. If you are considering taking this route, keep this in mind when choosing how to get around. This is especially relevant if the route itself is an important part of your stay and you want to plan accordingly.
Experiences at Genussgut Krispel
At Genussgut Krispel, you can choose from several experiences based on their specific itineraries. The “Lesereise ins Genussgut” takes you through six stops, from the vineyard to a final tasting. The “Entdeckertour” is available without advance booking during opening hours. A guided tour takes you through the wine cellar, the woolly pigsty and the basalt ageing rooms. These are different options: six stops ending with a tasting, a tour available without advance booking during opening hours, or a guided tour covering three named areas. Krispel’s Genusstheater opened in May 2021.
To choose between the offerings, you can focus on what sets them apart: the Lesereise follows a route from the vineyard to the tasting; for the Entdeckertour, the key point is that it is available without advance booking during opening hours; and the guided tour includes the wine cellar, woolly pigsty and basalt ageing rooms. This makes it easier to select the experience that best matches your travel interests, without treating the different formats as interchangeable tours.
Choose the Focus of Your Stay
If you are planning to explore the Wine Road, take its transport restriction into account; the Krispel experiences differ in their itineraries and booking requirements. This way, you can tailor your search to your travel plans.
